New MK5 , but no MFD2 Key Code.........
« on: December 18, 2010, 09:55:45 pm »
Hi All

Enjoying my new MK5 immensely and looking to upgrade to a 510 nav unit. Obviously I will want to sell my MFD2 but trawled through all the manuals and there seems to be no code for it.

What are my options for getting the code ?

Cheers

As long as it was factory-fitted then any VW dealer should be able to oblige. You might need to provide ID/V5 if they don't know the vehicle. I'm not aware of there being a charge for this - certainly I wasn't charged when I asked for mine  :happy2:
'57 DSG GTI alas now gone, but not forgotten....
Now motorway cruising in a 61 Mondeo Titanium X Sport 2.2 TDCi. 500+ miles to a tankful and bucketloads of torque :O Ok, it's not a GTI but it's fun... and that's what counts ;)

You wont get a Code card unless you ask for it as far as im aware.

The Code is stored in the ECU so if you disconnect the Battery the ECU resends the code when it powers back up.

As said just take your log book & some ID with you and they can get the code card for you :happy2:

If you know who the supplying dealer was then this would be your best first try.

Thanks everyone, it was factory fitted and I know the supplying dealer so should be good. I don't have  the V5 yet so I'll have to wait till that comes through.
