for JoesGTi......  doesnt that want you to think twice about putting back your rear safety Gurder in your GTi?.Are there any insurance implications on your policy??

Thats a nasty picture, hope everyone got outa that safely.

....Exactly my thoughts too.

Plus the insurers would almost certainly drop you like a hot brick if no safety girders for public highway use. I think jonnyc may also have removed his.

Not sure which part you are referring to here, do you mean the metal 'bumper' that sits behind the plastic one? I can't believe anyone would ever do such a thing, as they usually have 'crush cans' attached to them which are designed to crumple and absorb impacts, removing these is as good as suicide if you ever have a crash, and as said your insurance would be completely voided.
I work in a car factory and build car bodies, so I know about the structural integrity of them.  :happy2:

Yes thats the one, it was removed to "save Weight"and to modify to fit an R32 rear with exhaust/bumper setup.

Lumps of metal were removed to save weight and allow the fitment of a modded bumper

Wouldn't it have been better to have replaced the GTI metal with on from the R32? Or do they not fit?

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

They should be thankful to have a neck at all looking at state of the car!
