BMW 335D
« on: December 18, 2010, 09:13:09 pm »
So i drove a friends 335D last week (in texas before you ask about the snow!) and i was blown away!

Anyone else had any experience on this car?

For a diesel the pull was immense and speed overall. The auto gearbox was smooth but laggy in comparison
to the DSG but overall i was impressed.

Tempted to make it my next car in the summer....

Thoughts???

I own one (2008 msport) and absolutely love it. I mapped mine immediately (being an ecu technician) and it makes around 350bhp and 600ft/lb. Perfect family cars and returns 32mpg even when used hard. Will destroy many high performance cars in a staright line and if you can drive RWD properly they handle amazingly well.

You can pick up a cheap SE version for around 18k with basic spec or go for the proper Msport with every option for around 22k+

Keep thinking of what to get to replace it but until BMW bring out a new version of this engine I think I will be keeping it

I'd agree, the engine is sublime! What can follow it??

Tempted buddy, very tempted!!!!!! But i'd miss the whistling of my GTI and the DSG to add!

3.6 twin turbo diesel is roumored

But probably wont happen for a long time, i think it will remain 3.0 with a big power hike from standard, probably an original car producing around 350bhp.

Friend of mine bought 325D Performance and chip it to 250BHP. (is the same engine like 335D without 1 turbo charger, so has only 1)

I can say only that these car is amazing. Overall I missed DSG just everething alse is fantastic. Even fuell consumption. 30-40% less than my GTI and more power. I drove it more than 500milles and can say only that I wasnt so much suprised with a car for a long time. I have also 320D at home and is totally diferent if I compare it to 325 with all performance package.

Few pics:

They are very impressive stats wise and I've only heard good things from people who've driven all the straight 6 E90 range.

I dislike the BMW image and badge on principals but I keep finding myself being attracted to the 330D, which may be next on my list when I come looking for a Derv. Too many positives to ignore it.

335D get's the thumbs up from me really. I don't think Audi/VW have an engine that rivals it pound for pound and for the second hand prices they can be picked up for too. A5's are all still well over £22k for a 3.0TDi Quattro on basic spec.

Sorry for digging up an old thread but can anyone tell me what is the difference between the 325D, 330D and 335D? I know the 335D has twin turbo but that's all I know  :stupid:

as far as im aware the 325 is a de-tuned 330 with 1 turbo unit
335 is a twin turbo
