Retrofitting Bluetooth with RCD310
« on: August 20, 2011, 02:54:37 pm »
Can anyone tell me if the OEM Bluetooth can be retro fitted to a Mk6 GTD with an RCD310?

If so, how do you see the calls, phonebook etc? Is the highline screen enough?

I have the OEM bluetooth factory fitted to my GTD and I did have the RCD 310. I have since retro-fitted an RNS 510.

The BT works fine with the RCD 310 in a more limited capacity than the RNS. When you receive/make a call the radio will mute and "PHONE" will appear in the radio display. The call audio will come through the speakers. The MFD though will display everything you need - phone book, call register, etc, so to answer your question, the highline screen in conjunction with the steering wheel buttons is enough.
Also, BT audio will work with the RCD (e.g. you can play your iPhone music via bluetooth).

The RNS does give much better phone integration though!

Perfect, thanks very much.

Its for a mates Mk6, but as I have a Parrot I've never really followed the threads on here about the OEM bluetooth kit.

Do the part numbers vary depending on car? Or is it 1 kit will fit all?

What parts do I need?

Can it all be fitted, then the car driven prior to coding?! I'll be fitting it but will then need to take the car to get coded.

Is there no way to retrofit the bluetooth and retain the MDI?

You fitted the Bluetooth?

What parts are needed? Does it vary betwen Mk5 and Mk6?

Random question, can the parts be installed and car driven until the coding is done at a later date?! Or does it all need done at the same time?

Yep.

It can all be installed and driven until the coding is done - it just won't work properly.

Parts on the mk5/mk6 are generally the same apart from the model number as the mk6 have a white MFD instead of red

Joe,

I know this from so long ago but wonder if you can help.

I have an RCD310 with factory bluetooth and am installing a RNS510. Are the bluetooth components the same. I.e will it work straight away or does the RNS510 need a different bluetooth set up?

Thanks so much
