Rear Wash / Wipe spray Jet
« on: December 23, 2010, 02:27:25 pm »
A quick question that's been bothering me for some time. My rear wash/wipe jet is aimed too high and normally sprays over the roof (even when I'm travelling).

I've had a quick look and can't see anything to adjust ? Anyone know if it's even possible to adjust the spray direction ?

Cheers

Andrew

IIRC... you can adjust it by sticking a pin in the nozzle and moving it!

**Going out to adjust mine!

^^ I was correct... you just need a needle or thin pin! Pull the cover off the hub (pulls on a hinge towards the drivers side) and stick the needle in the jet and adjust it!

Thanks Rich,

Had a look at mine at lunchtime and swung the cover back as you suggested, and I was faced with a small black plastic pin sticking through the wiper arm retaining nut (which I guess is the spray nozzle) ? I shone at light at it and couldn't see a hole in the plastic pin to adjust anything. I'll have another go tomorrow.

Thanks for the heads up.  :happy2:

You should aim the nozzle so the spray comes out at the 2 o'clock position - stops water ingress into the high brake light.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

That explains that then chaps.

The little white adjuster ball in Rich's photo above is missing on my spray nozzle. No wonder it's going everywhere. Looks like a piece of ice may have forced it out ?

Wonder if the stealers keep these in stock, shouldn't be too much dosh ?

^^^ ahh... yeah, that will explain it! I can find a MK4 part number but not a MK5... so i can only presume that they do that part separately!
