DSG and Snow

Been laid up for the last week because of the snow, but tomorrow I have to go out.
I was wondering how people with DSG were getting on in the snow. This will be my first drive in snow/ice conditions in an "automatic".
Any tips/advice would be welcomed.

Dead easy, just keep it in drive and slowly take your foot off the brake with no throttle. Once it starts creeping, gently give it more. I had no issues last year, even on PS2s and the ungritted country lanes around my house.

If you get stuck, ESP/traction off helps. Reversing up hills can be easier if you're in real schtuk. A quick left foot dab of the brake will stop a single spinning wheel, transfers power to the other briefly and the resulting jolt can bounce you free.

As Mike says, DSG is probably easier to drive on snow than manual. The creep definately helps when moving off as you very very rarely get any wheel spin..

Its all been said above but I have found the DSG very very easy to drive in the snow and ice always perfectly smooth clutch control and very early gear shifts up to a higher gear in D make for easy going on the ice and creep is perfect for moving away  :driver:

5Dr Black GTI, DSG, Leather, Xenons. Retrofitted - Cruise, RNS 510, MFSW, Armrest, Skoda BT, 6cd changer, Monza II's, VW speaker upgrade kit, Lux pack, High-line, new CAN gateway, Polar FIS info display, R32 tinted rear lights, RVC

I got well stuck the other nite & none of the above options helped and ended up having to get a friend to pull me free with his Discovery  :ashamed:
One thing i did find out is that the screw in towing eye has a left hand thread,what would be the reason for that? :confused:

True

the load pulling on the eye, will cause the towing eye to want to turn in, instead of out so staying tight all of the time

Suprizing how tight one will get if pulling or being towed for a long distance

I found that with no pressure on the gas it pulled away so easy on the snow and ice were as most manuals on our toad have been spinning all over the show... Told one young lad in a fiat the other day to pull away in 2nd as he was wheel spinning it all over the show... He just looked at me daft...

Another DSG virgin here and its been nice and easy getting around anywhere, DSG in conjunction with the ESP on and ive not got stuck yet, its been perfect.
As said, just having no feet on the pedals to get things moving then gently applying the throttle and away you go, even when going thru deep stuff its been great

Just looked this up.... and its to do with the way that the rope is bound.

As said put car into D and let it pull itself away. But on side roads or any icy surfaces where you may need to crawl along in 1st gear just push your gear selecter into manual mode and when your speed gets slow enough it will go into 1st gear.As far as ive seen in D it wont go lower than 2nd gear when slowing down or crawling.
