Polish/Wax
« on: December 23, 2010, 02:55:29 pm »
My golf is black. I have my wash sorted but need a polish and wax.
I was thinking of getting autoglym SRP as some people say its better than poorboys blackhole.
For wax i was thinking HD autoglym wax or collinite ?
any help?

Sorry can mods move to detailing

Black hole isn't a wax its a glaze to improve look, by filling light swirl marks.  SRP is alright as an all in one polish and wax but has little cutting ability and again will mask by filing the swirl marks.

I use HD wax from AG and have had good results, and the protection lasts a decent period of time.  Alot of people rate collinite due to the time the finish lasts, I have no personal experience but alot of people recommend it.

Have a sift through some of the threads in the detailing section.

Do you intend to polish by hand or by machine?

This is a very good wax clicky. This one is also recommended clicky.

Wow Stealth, considering the OP mentioned AG SRP, PB BH and Collies, I'm guessing he wants something a little more 'affordable'!  :innocent:

Personally, I would clay the car then use PB BH, FK 1000P and then apply Colly 915  :happy2:

He didn't mention budget.  Detailing is one of those things where you could easily spend silly amounts of money!

SRP is a very good polish to use by hand if worked properly - it was highly rated on DW. But to get a better finish requires using a machine polisher and abrasive polish.

Waxes and sealants are plentiful. As I demonstrated, these can reach silly prices. Collinite and FK1000P are both highly durable with a good (but not great finish). Nowt wrong with AG HD.

Another wax to consider is Meg#16 cheaper than AG HD wax and very durable and easy to use. Collinite476s is a good winter protection.
Might be worth checking out Duargloss  - #101 & 111 as well if your looking at SRP from AG also some Dodo juice Lime Prime.
If your set on Ag HD wax give me a shout.
