BIRMINGHAM/MIDLANDS PPL
« on: December 26, 2010, 01:00:02 pm »
Being new to this I have a list of some good contacts already.....to help me.

Midlands VW - Jody (for all general mech stuff/plug in etc)
A1 Wolverhampton for wheels.

Anyone else know good place for parts......also body work etc. also someone that is good with coding but not £££ prices?

Do all you just search Ebay etc. and for sale here for grill rear bumpers etc?

.
Most of us (I think) tend to search in the For Sale/Wanted sections here first as folks here are usually more trustworthy than some on eBay. Personally I avoid eBay unless I already know the seller.

For parts, you have to look everywhere, any MK5 forum available to you,
Check here, and I do try e bay from time to time,
For colour coding I use chase automotive in Cannock, had all my coding done by them.

clicky

Of the forumites who've used A1 wheels, AnilS appears to have been the only one who's had issues with A1.

As with any company, you take the risk and hope they do a good job.

Hi Johnny, for body work I would recommend Sprint Autos they are in Kings Heath - Birmingham they are faultless and for servicing etc I would recommend Autovolks in shirley next door to Solihull Volkswagen they are really good too.

Many thanks Stealthwolf.

A1 returned my M Paras (BMW) alloys back to factory finish but final finished in polyurethane laquer. At no point did they tell me, they do not guarantee a laquered finish on them. However, they happily releaved of £400.

After 6 months (no more) they looked like this (similar to the whiteworm mentioned on Monzas);

They refused a refund. They also refused to put it right.

I decided to get them powdercoated (for less hassle with the polished finish) and paid City Powder coaters (Birmingham) £80 for all 4 alloys (no tyres).

Heres their work on my BM alloys (including the Mag feature it was in) and the finish on my wifes' Monzas (the finish is called "Sparkle Silver)

Well like most things in life, you pay your money you take's your chances!  :happy2:

I know for a fact the lacquer A1 currently use will NOT whiteworm as it is an acrylic lacquer. This is also the first bad experience I have heard of and I have been going there for over three years and they must have done at least 12 sets for me and countless others.

Ask Stealth how his look as they were done just over two years ago by A1.

Was gonna mention that.

I bought Greeners' Monzas. He was the first in the UK to do the black inserts (rumour has it VW stole the idea off him for the mk6!). Anyway, I've had them for over two years and they are still in the same condition as when I got them off Greeners.

I've recently had my Pescaras done by them and will report how they look in the future.

So, who had the seriously tuned GT TDI here? is 180-190 about tops for the 140bhp model?
other than spending thousands on new turbo, cams etc. etc. etc
