hi fella
my car has been mapped by angel tuning and i have been very happy with it.
i heard just after i got it done that they werent one of the better reliable companies but it was too late and i have no complaints.the guy that did it knew his beans and was a karting/saloon car racer along with his dad.
ivwe never had a mapped car before but my car was amazingly different. its still hesitant at slow-so i,m sure i need a new dv- bought :happy2:
so on my experience i can say i would use again, but then i,m in essex.
although if i go to stage2 it will be revo or even rtech-based on most peoples opinions on here and i will def go for the dsg remap too.
hope that helps????

Nearly went with Angel on my Vrs from Tunbridge Wells (In the industrial estate). If it is from there stay well away! Tried to fit mk2 arbs to my mk1 and then refused to change them or give me my money back and became a nightmare!

Luckily AmD took them in and got the right ones for me at no cost and just hung on to the wrong ones and sold them from their premises. Something they didn't have to do but because of this I have been back several times and always had brillinat service.

I would pay more and get a reputable product rather than a man in a van setup!

the rumours are ....he is a top bloke.
i didnt notice any mpg difference...think iv got something wrong with my right foot....doctor says there is a lot of lead in it so tends to be heavy
s i say i can only go on my experience-the guy came from their hq and ive been pleased.... but iv not driven another mapped golf to compare

He's a master tech at verve Vw in Glasgow so he's local and knows his stuff, also handy for any aftersales you might need   :happy2:
Think his maps are £250
Had my stage one map done with him and was more than impressed :driver:

I was informed recently that Angel tuning were in liquidation, a friend of mine was/is a dealer of theirs and hasnt heard from the management of AT for ages regarding their official stance as a trading business.

A quick check on companies house confirms this is a fact, says 'in liquidation' so worth asking some carefull questions regarding warranty etc.... TBH you have a big choice of mobile run of the mill tuners that you can use.

I have contacts with some really good tuners throughout the UK, if you want someone local Im sure I can point you in the direction of someone that will do you a great job. (where are you located?)

I have been running an Angel Tuning remap on my MkII vRS for nearly 2 years and up until recently I have been very happy, however over the last few weeks I have noticed some serious flat spots between 3750 and 4500 revs, whether this is related to the map or something else I can't say.

My overall experience of Angel as been 1st class and I have spoken in length to one of the owners since these rumours regarding liquidation came out several months ago.  I think there is a lot more to it but for safetys sake I would probably look elsewhere if you are just starting out.  Shark Performance (shark_90) over on the Briskoda forum is very highly thought of, and is a specialist in VAG cars so he may be worth having a chat to, he also has inside information re: Angel.

GO for it.  I use a local company here in NI.  They dont just produce generic maps.  Every map is adjusted for your car.  I dont see how anyone can charge more than £250 for a map.

Because some companies put in a huge amount of time doing R&D to find the limits of their maps and the engine, often to the point of destruction, so they can say their map is safe, from what i have REVO do alot of mapping in south africa iirc, due to the climate and heat.  and is why they are often not the first to bring out maps.

Also if they have a lot of overheads and expertise it needs to be paid for. So not just a man in a van with an ebay account for buying in maps

You get what you pay for, its as simple as that. I assume your local 'custom mapper' has full rolling road facilities, and spends 4+ hours testing, tuning and datalogging all of the required parameters?

The sad truth is that most maps that people buy these days are just bought from cheap websites or downloaded from discs bought on ebay by amateurs trying to make a quick buck. There are very few tuners tnat can create true custom remappping solutions for their customers, anyone that tells you they can do this by using nothing more that a laptop is either misinformed or using tne word 'custom' to make the product sound better in some way.

Tuning and developing ECU software is all about long term testing, measuring, analysis and alteration using the correct tools and by employing people with the knowledge to do so. Anyone can buy a read/write tool from ebay and buy files and call themselfes a remapper and charge £250. Once you add in a premises, staff, cost of running a business, expensive genuine tools and software, rolling road facilities, insurance etc..... You realise why they can create better software than a mo ile tuner working from the back of a van, and why it costs more for this premium product.

Yea they have a rolling road, plug laptop into car and go a drive to check whatever they do.  Then take it onto the RR for a few runs and back onto the open road to check it.  Its a local company that do all milltek, sachs etc.  I dont know how long it will take but I think thats it.  All I know is these guys leave the car that its safe and not churning out big BHP claims.  Word of mouth is how they are going.  I think there is one REVO dealer here but they are known to be just OK at there work.
