Brighter Fog Lights!!!!
« on: January 01, 2011, 04:19:58 pm »
As title suggests, does anyone know if there is bulbs that can replace the standard ones that are brighter, noticed the other day there that the fog lights are pretty poor on the golfs.
any advice or links to such bulbs would be great.
cheers!!

Halfrauds do some brighter ones and brighter brake light bulbs (only when braking)

Cant remember what they are called though but they sell them in store and no doubt online. :happy2:

Brighter foglights will only reflect the fog back at you.

this drove me nutz driving back to london the other day.... little bit of fog and everyone puts on their fog lights.... it was nowhere near foggy enough for fog lights and as stealth said all it did was create a haze round the rear of each car...

You also get the opposite though where idiots don't put them on or even lights at all in some cases :fighting:

I was told that you only need them if you can't seen more than 100yards
and the 'boys in blue' were clamping down up here(n-east scotland)
with all these people driving around with sidelights and foglights on!!!
Stu
(having said that i moded my front fogs with a hid kit and it works great on the back roads in the famous 'scots mist'
makes it a lot easier to see the verge and feck'n potholes!!!!!)

Before moving to london (didnt have a car for 10yrs or so) I can remember using my fogs once and you were lucky if you could see 30yds infront of you...

I think it depends on where you live. I've had to use mine quite a lot but training areas tend to be in areas with there own weather systems

+1, though I've been driving only for four years.

... little bit of fog and everyone puts on their fog lights.... it was nowhere near foggy enough for fog lights...
It seems people don't really know what fog is. A little mist and suddenly foglights come on. It's like the snow - people have never experienced driving in such conditions and hence don't know how to drive. Or at least don't think about it.

You also get the opposite though where idiots don't put them on or even lights at all in some cases :fighting:
I've seen people rely on sidelights for illumination at night!  :stupid:
I've seen a few people driving around with no lights and flashing your own lights doesn't seem to help them realise!

well I got pulled on the M5 by west mercia's finest - light drizle, mid-day, was just about to put my lights on having spied jam sandwich on hard shoulder, when, out he pulled, blue lights and ordered to pull over, when I politely enquired why I had been pulled I was told you didn't have your lights on sir, that'l be a £30 fine - luckily no penalty points, visibility was fine for my old eyes, but not worth arguing - he then shot off and pulled the very next car for the same thing, he was reeling them in like shooting fish in a barrel, reckon they were down on their quota! so I always put everything on now if any doubt at all, can't be done for having them on, only not having them on, even though its not considerate, thats the bloody west mercia constabulary for you !!

That's a bit harsh! I leave the car on auto-lights. Wonder what would have happened in that situation.
