Replacement DV
« on: January 02, 2011, 04:44:32 pm »
Hi all, I replaced the DV on my 05 GTI the other day original was a B revision and had no obvious signs of wear to suggest there were any issues, only thing of note was an oily residue.

Reason I am telling everyone is i have noticed an improvement in pickup and less hesitation to pull away after lift off say when rolling up to a round about.  Car is a DSG and the 1st gear to 2nd gear shift is also now how I would have always expected it to be smooth and without hesitation when engine and gearbox is cold, I can only assume this is due to the shift point being at around the maximum torque figure and as the turbo would be spooling up.

Has anyone else who has moved to the Rev D DV noticed similar affects?

Just a quick question mate, where did you get your dv from? And did you fit it yourself?

What year did they swap?

they didnt come out the factory on any GTI's.  This DV was designed for the tsi engine but has now become the replacement part for all tfsi and tsi engines when they fail

I noticed a big effect on performance after changing mine (MY06 Rev B). I too had very little damage to the old DV. The car is so much better now it has been changed. :happy2:

Most places now (including Awesome) say get the OEM one as its sufficient and provides reliable performance under high boost.

Replaced the part number richwig mentioned, cost from dealer was £51 inc VAT but that was a retail price and had to be ordered in.  Fitted the part myself I had the wheels off as I was cleaning and sealing them.  And with car on axle stands got under neath and other than being a contortionist it was fairly simple.

I was a little disappointed when I saw that the existing one wasn't damaged but now very happy I went to the trouble, as it seems to have solved a number of issues some which I thought were gear box related.   :happy2:
