Does everyone elses car sound like a coilpack if failing when the traction control kicks in?

My car sounds like one of the contraptions from 'Saw' is about to pull my head off, when TC kicks in some times

Have you heard it whilst trying to brake on ice or snow?

There is a terrible 'grinding' sort of noise from mine at times when it kicks in - don't think I'd confuse it with a coil failing though ...

Then again I have had a coil pack fail before so its easy for me to compare.

Stop me if I'm wrong but isn't that girding sound the ABS kicking in rather than the TC?

I think its the same noise - the ABS pump operating either on all the brakes in a braking situation or on an individual wheel in a traction control situation.

Doesn't count if your car's been modded!

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.
