UPDATE.
Before tackling the injectors i had a compression check done on the car to make sure it wasnt a cylinder that had worn out! All cylinders tested full compression :happy2:

Cleaned the MAF sensor with some Carb cleaner and refitted once dried out, drove the car and it feels alot better. Replace the cam follower too while i was messing about with the car!

Took the car to have a vcds check and the missfire has gone!

Now its showing Evap system fault and oxygen sensor faults??
How the hell has that happened?

hi jimmy, might be talking out of my rear end but i remember somewhere i was told not to spray the MAF with carb cleaner, i went to do it on my MK4 GTi (they all had lots of issues with the MAF) and a reputable mechanic (who i trust) said not to. Not sure if this info helps?

Ive had a couple of people saying to do it and a couple saying not to!

Thought id try it first rather then spend £110 for a new one.

It seemed to go alot better once it was cleaned tho!

To remove and install injectors requires a special toolkit.  It's not just a case of popping them out.

Another thing with my car at the moment, when i start it up from cold, sometimes the car ticks over at normal rpm and sometimes at a higher rpm. Obviously at higher rpm the " choke" or cold start valve is working away as it should, but why not at other times when starting from cold?

When i pull away when the cars in "choke" mode, it doesnt rev very easily and seems to stutter as if its out of fuel,as soon as the revs die back down, it drives normal??

Could this be linked to my other problems?

im willing to bet its the PCV valve going.
read somewhere that if your revs stay high then its a cause.

Under the top engine cover, top of the engine towards the front, just behind the diverter valve, if it's the same engine as the ed30

hi jimmy i had a missfire on my Gti last year on cylinder 3, after moving coil packs, data logging and swapping plugs etc i swapped the injector and all was solved in my case,  it had me pulling my hair out  :signLOL:

my car would randomly missfire underload mostly in 3rd gear and only after it had warmed up
Still Here!
