Search online for firmware 5274 modified. It will have the secret menu activated and video-in-motion.

Then search for the West Europe maps from 2015.

Hi all,

I have recently imported Golf Mk6 GTI that that has the below version of the RNS-510 installed:

3C0 035 681 A: Production 05/2008 – 10/2009
HW03, SW0160

My aim is to update it to the latest firmware and install the latest Western Europe maps as the Japanese nav is now no use to me.

I have tried the 276X Firmware (For all A/B/C Units). But this has not worked resulting in SWL error code: (010306)
I used a DVD R, burned on a Mac with Nero at the slowest speed.

I have three questions:

Can SW0160 be updated to 276X Firmware, or is there an earlier firmware version that I need to use?

Can I update to the Western Europe Maps without updating the firmware?

Will I need to format the HDD before installing the Western Europe maps ?

Any help would be appreciated.

You can go directly to the FW 5274 modified by Josi version.

I successfully updated to 5274, was using it yesterday, played music via bluetooth etc.

Went to get in today to load the maps and now it is stuck in a boot loop. Anything I can do? I've had a look and it seems I need to send for repair. It's not accessible via VCDS.

I've tried the software cd and the SWL fix but the headunit won't even boot them.

Any thoughts?

So the upgrade went all without any glitch, you used the radio after it was finished and today it doesn't boot?

If the SWL fix CD doesn't work, a reset shouldn't work either. You can try disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes.

Other than that I can only see that you'd need to find someone with a RNS Commander cable and that knows how to diagnose the radio's problem and replace the motherboard if needed. :sad1:

Yeah, typical. I'll try the battery off tomorrow. I can't get the SWL fix cd to boot, just crashes. It looks like I'm going to have to send it off  :sad1:

So today I upgraded the firmware in my RNS510, it didnt have the secret menu when I started but got this from VCDS

Address 37: Navigation (J0506)       Labels: 1T0-035-680.clb
   Part No SW: 1T0 035 680 C    HW: 1T0 035 680 C
   Component: RNS-MID       H41 2720
   Revision: AB001001    Serial number: VWZ6Z7K5219066
   Coding: 040004020400008000
   Shop #: WSC 01357 011 00200
   VCID: AE592AB5F97C594E7F-80FA

I assumed it had firmware 2720 so I have loaded in 3810a but I have read that it should add partitions to the HDD and therefore format it but it hasnt, I still have the maps (which I now know are 7074) and the music I put on it, Free space is about 18.5Gig with about 0.5G of music.

Is that right?

I have downloaded 4120 which I plan to load tomorrow but I dont want to do it if the HDD isnt right.

OK, did it anyway and all went well, loaded 4120 which this time wiped the HDD so then updated the maps to v13 from SD, nice and easy  :happy2:

Hello !

I've recently updated my passat cc radio rns 510 h03 from firmwire 0900 to firmwire 9238 with success. Everything works so far, my question is if there is anything more required to install maps from a not original dvd ?
I cant update maps from sd card since the radio supports up to 2gb card max
Thank you
