I'm away at the moment so will update the thread if needs be when i get back.

397X is the latest out there but from everything i have read it is still a beta. Some people have it working with V7 maps, some have difficulty searching for the normal POI's. Some have it working with modified maps and some don't. So i will probably keep the 397X to a seperate thread so that there is no confusion over it being a beta.

Also it will only work on B & C revision units.

397x is a very stable firmware for a beta release, but for POIs to work, you need to use an unmodified 7388 disc and import the Speed Cameras etc via Personal POIs on your SD Card.

VCDS Scanning/Coding, RNS and MDI retrofits, and specialist mechanics services with VAGtek available - Just PM me for details.

Just a quick query...

Any benefits of 2760 over 2720???

Nobody on Google seems to have any comments

Cheers

How severe is the battery drain?

Just fitted a version C to my March 2007 and not noticed anything so far.....

It will appear after about 2-3 days of the car being static. Then after that it will happen quite often.

However i had a Mar 2007 car previously and i never suffered battery drain. It depends on when your car was built and if it is a MY2007 car or a MY2006 that was just registered in Mar 2007. Hopefully you will be lucky and it will be fine  :happy2:

My March 07 built Jetta (K gateway) has been fine too.

One thing I did find that while the modified firmware didn't cause battery drain on my Mk5 (with ver E gateway) it won't work with the Rear Camera so updated it to a AD and all it good  :happy2:

Thanks Carl and Steve

I meant to add my update to this post... The local VW dealer (Benfiled Newcastle) did me proud in the end... on the last day of warranty they gave me a new Sat Nav unit, replaced a couple of faulty units with the Immobiliser and a few other minor points...

Regarding the Sat Nav... they told me the HDD was corrupt hence why it appeared to have 0 memory and why the only means of using the Nav was to have the NAv disc permenantly in the player... anyway all is good now... I appear to have a working unit... my only small gripe is that I can only still use memory cards with a maximum of 2GB... I've decided that I will not mess with the firmware anymore and just get on with driving the car...

Hi all,
My first post :-)

I've got a Sept 2007 GT Sport Tdi 170 that was fitted with a rnc310.

I've since fitted a rns510B firmware 1120, v7 maps. No battery issue.

I really want 6 digit postcode search and so I have upgraded sw to josi 2270 battery drain fix.

My first question is, how can I tell if I will suffer from the battery drainproblem or not?

Second question is, would I be better off installing sw 1300 instead and are there any issues downgrading firmware?

All the best

John

On a Sept 07 car you shouldn't have any issues  :happy2:

As Steve says a Sept 07 Car will be fine as it will have at least an L revision gateway if not higher.

1300 firmware is higher/newer than 2720. It is the same as 2800 except for no voice control. But unless you have Bluetooth and have wired up the mic accordingly you wont have that so won't need it so fill your boots and install away :happy2:

Thanks for your replies chaps!

In the end I installed the Josi 2270 firmware (just to be safe) and Western Europe Maps V 7333 - I assume this is the latest, but the maps are still quite out of date, as it doesn't show an extension to our housing estate that is over two years old at least?

The only thing I need to do (possibly) is get the local dealer to activate the stereo steering wheel access via the VAG-comm, so I can access volume from the steering wheel stick?

I don't need voice, bluetooth etc- too expensive a luxury to be hands free :(

Cheers

John
