all i can say to you both, below 7-8 degrees celsius you need wintertyres to drive safely. And they are cheaper than a new front on the  :wink:car

Surely it's cheaper to just slow down and be more careful

That's the sencible thing to do, like pay ones car insurance (which i understand is a problem in the UK) or always wear a condom during sexual intercourse.
reality is somewhat different. On a really bad winterday Falck (equal to the german ADAC) assists about 5000 people, 90% of those are on summertyres, so even though we know better, we still can't foresee the conditions we will encounter during winter.

I fully agree with you I was just being sarcastic mate :drinking:

Hi Folks,

Ive decided to go for the vredestein ultrac sessantas for the Edition 30 but the cheapest i can find is £100 delivered . That seems to be a a jump from £80 odd from before christmas!  :surprised:

can anywhere suggest any other retailers that do mail order or stockists in the manchester area?

Thanks guys

Don't forget VAT went up to 20% on Jan 4th so that is probably why the price hike.

Try ringing around your local tyre fitters and play them off against each other. :happy2:

£100 each fitted is a good price! I paid £75 each last time I had a set but I think the good reviews and vat have pushed the prices up. Even on Camskill their £114 I think delivered.

Your lucky you can find them in stock at all! Most places are sold out. I manged to get 4 delivered for £360 but still had to pay £40 fitting.

Private seller on eBay listed as 'vredstein' not 'vredestein' although I had the last 4.

I always alter the spelling of things, that's how you get eBay bargains.

Mate of mine bought some OEM 'zenons' for his golf for the starting bid of £100!

I got 4 Vredestein delivered yesterday for 17", £83 each from here: http://www.clickontyres.com/Vredestein/22545_ZR17_Vredestein_Ultrac_Sessanta_XL_94Y

Could not stomach the cost of Conti or Michelin.  Only used one day, pretty good so far, even in the icy north.

Its not a bad price for 19s - I paid around that for ps2's in the same fitment about a month ago, the price for 265 35 19 will make you wince

though that website looks a little dubious, Ive searched the internet for these and none of the big sellers (tyre pneus/mytyres/camskill/blackcircles) are stocking them yet so it makes me wander how these chaps have got them in when their website looks like its from 1990s
GTI Edition 30 - Reflex Silver now gone but not forgotten - Cooper S JCW now.
