Poor MPG?
« on: January 01, 2014, 08:34:24 pm »
Right, before i start im not complaining as its what id expect but my MPG on my edition 30 is all over the shop.

Now most of the time i just use it driving around town nipping to shop etc, and drive it like it should be driven and i get like a average of say 25mpg.

Like went out in countryside to pick up my dishes last week and was having some back road action in Sports mode and i got like 25mpg.

But yesterday i drove to manchester, and drove back today, had cruise on there and back at a legit 70mph and i averaged 29mpg.

Standard car with just a twintake on. Is this correct or is there some bits i should be checking?

25mpg!  I'm lucky to get 18mpg around town!

Mine is a DSG!

Personally I'd check the Diverter Valve, easy on the K04 from engine bay.

Are you using the same fuel?  I seem to get better MPG when using Super Unleaded.

@70MPH, you should be able to get slightly better MPG than that on a relatively flat road.

Yeah, like around town i understand its gonna be low ish, but i dont get why it never goes over 30  :signLOL:

Always run on shell V-power. Got about 260 miles from £50 and was a1/m60 so flat enough roads.

Ill look into checking my diverter valve, just thought its best to ask to see if this is correct or there is something that could be checked.

Mine never does either.

Run on v power. New pcv, New dv, New cam follower, fresh oilsand filters etc .

I have checked the mpg myself over the last few weeks and while I'm getting about 27mpg the trip was saying 23 even when I reset it all, I used vagcom in the end to correct the mpg calculator.

Care to share how you did this?

If the mileage isn't what it once was...the two components that usually are related to this are the MAF and the O2 sensor...pre-cat.
