2011 AMD Milltek Mk5 GTI BTCC Unveiled
« on: January 13, 2011, 09:57:18 pm »
Was at Autosport show today and saw the new/revised Mk5 AMD Milltek will be running in the BTCC this year.

Excuse the rubbish photo's

This year the car is running with support from Your Racing Car - www.yourracingcar.com (hence all the pic's on the top of the car).

The car has undergone a complete strip down and rebuild during the winter and is now fitted a VW 2.0 Turbo engine rather than the previous NA 2.0 engine. (Producing around 300bhp and 350 ft lb torque from a low boost turbo, 0.8 bar IIRC, but high compression engine)

From speaking with Shaun he says the car should now be on the money with the power (this was felt to be a key problem last session) and some other changes to the cage/bulkhead and suspension setup should see the car running in the top 10.

Having seen the car a few times last session it certainly looks an improved machine this year so fingers cross the Mk5 will be showing the Ford's and Chevrolet's a thing or two  :driver:

Looking good, will be following the team with interest this season. On a different note, how was the show Steve, anything really interesting?

I wonder if they do get some results if the opposition will bleat about it being a 3 door.

They had special dispensation to run a 3 door as it shares the same silhouette as the 5 door.

I haven't been for years so enjoyed it, the feedback from the trade people I knew there said it was bit bigger than last year too.

The F1 stuff like the Mclaren cars going back to the 70's was very good  :happy2:

They have changed the rules. From what i remember there were lots of changes to the regs this year, meaning all teams were forced to spend lots of dosh.  :driver:
