HE Performance 2.0L FSI Intake Manifold
« on: January 13, 2011, 10:20:26 pm »
Not sure how many of you have spotted this from the January issue of the Eurotuner magazine.

Taken from the Eurotuner website:
2.0L FSI Intake Manifold
HE Performance
MSRP: website
Info: endtankusa.com
Are you tired of that plastic OEM manifold? Ready to get rid of that engine cover, and are you looking for bigger power numbers? Then you might want to consider HE Performance's new aluminum intake manifold for the 2.0L FSI motor. The construction starts with billet aluminum parts for strength and a fantastic look. The throttle body stays in the factory location so your plumbing won't have a problem with fitting. Extra ports on the bottom of the manifold allow you to hook up aftermarket vacuum and boost accessories. If you plan to go big turbo, you might want to consider one of these bad boy manifold.

Looks like they have not confirmed a price for this yet. Thoughts people?

Yep FSI, I am no expert on this, but what is different in design between this and the TFSI I wonder?

^^^ Yes the tumble flaps are not included.  This basically means you will need to get a new map as you will have part throttle and cold start issues without the tumble flaps.

HGP have also released a new intake manifold with tumble flaps but it is rather expensive:

Quote
Aluminum intake manifold
with increased volume and funnels. The tumble flaps are taken from the original Seriensaugrohr. The intake manifold is designed for maximum performance and pressure. Suitable for original or 70mm throttle

Here is the link for the full upgrade options:
http://www.hgp-turbo.de/vw/golf6r20.html

The prices do look exessive though, couple of examples - 1450 Euros for an uprated HPFP and 340 Euros for a cam follower!!!

As I understand it (might be wrong here) the plastic manifold, while looking cheap, is actually better as it's more insulating than metal - it conducts less heat, resulting in an overall longer time to heat air flowing in (and possibly cool intake air temps overall?). Just a thought.

I don't think I have ever heard one person complain about their manifold, nor seen any evidence to suggest it wasn't up to the job.

Making things for the sake of it.
Sideways yo!
