Ive heard of alot more quality issues with miltek than i have with any other exhaust, and thats just with respect to the TFSI Mk5 platform.  That said they have excellent customer service from what i gather.

This could also be more of a result of the amount of guys using Miltek in comparison to others options, so you would need to take that into account i guess.  me personally id go for a pipewerx.  My old exhaust is now on its 3rd owner and still going strong.
can anyone give rough price difference for the above ie i take it Milltek most reasonable, then you pay a premium for bluflame and APR and what of this BTB one is that a remortgage house affair?

Id disagree, miltek are quite expensive, Blueflame are cheaper and i think pipewerx are even cheaper again. That was the last time i checked anyway.  May have changed now
Ive been quoted £480 for a miltek fitted? Is that good?

Cat back or downpipe?  saying that either way thats not to bad at all :happy2:

Dunno prices but the main three are fairly similar IIRC. I have never heard of BTB.

BTB specialize in making BTCC exhausts (the ones that are on the cars at the front of the grid) along with current and historic F1 exhausts to name a few...
They make there own boxes so there not baffled like the last exhaust i had on mine before....  :fighting:

The BTB is expensive but you defiantly get what you pay for! i found 15bhp just from changing from a milltek TBE to a BTB...

Milltek are a good off the shelf exhaust, but there are far better systems out there if you want the best!

Luckily Joe is a close friend of the family and he has alwase done the exhausts for all my race cars and they are alwase a work of art!

Good point about the sound changing with mods  :happy2:

Also the sound will 'mature' as the pipes coke up a bit.

Can you be more specific about BTB being "simply awesome", please  :happy2:

Not a great deal on the website as most of the work they do is "hidden" to the public

....I'm not for a moment claiming that Milltek are the best out there but did you hear the Milltek exhaust on their AmDMilltek BTCC GTI last season? That was probably the best I have ever heard on any Golf! Bit loud for road use though.

What are people's views on Longlife Exhausts? Are they any goo? Have heard a few people have gone to them for custom cats and decats with nothing but good compliments? I'm thinking should i go for a Milltek Cat or get a custom one made up to go on my Milltek Cat back!?

Longlife/powerflow are only as good as the dealer that makes them, some I have seen are good, some are shockingly bad.

I have been talking to my local Longlife dealer in Carshalton and they seem very knowledgable and friendly. Also been speaking to a few people and you could actually get better gains from a Longlife system rather than a Milltek and they're also a hell of a lot cheaper! Been quoted £280 for a de-cat for my Eddy! Thinking about it too

Well if they are doing custom exhausts and your considering a decat, i say do it properly and get them to make it like below so you can fit a cat when required (MOT time).

....One of the most expensive components in the Milltek is the cat due to the materials used. It's also a critical component regarding heat, longevity, and recent legality.

x2 I had 2 silencers crack, one on my MK4, put it down to a one off, and bought one for my MK5, that cracked as well.

I got them both re-welded locally, nil problems after that.  Not only on VW platforms, as always do the homework and take the choice.
