Well chaps looks like my 5 and a bit year love affair with the Golf is coming to an end.
Due to the wife having a damaged knee, and the manual box in her 2006 Polo Sport becoming a bit of a chore, we've been looking for a replacement. After much looking at Audi, Ford, Nissan etc, she finally settled on Saturday on a new shape Polo SEL with the DSG 7 speed auto box, and a shed load of factory options.
Whilst we were there, the brand manager who sold us the Golf and Polo over 5 years ago appeared, and not only did us a stonking deal on the new Polo, but also offered me a cracking deal on a new car a well. Well after much soul searching between us on Saturday night and working out the pennies, we went back in today and signed for the Polo and.......... My new Scirocco !
It's a Candy White GT 2.0 Tdi (again), with all the usual options, 18" alloys, dual zone climate, auto lights and wipers and the dynamic chassis control. I also added a few options of my own. Winter pack (can't do without the heated seats after having them on the Golf), electric folding mirrors, cruise control, parking sensors and Bluetooth phone prep.
For the first time in my life, I've also added the DSG box (so we both have it). Unfortunately I could afford the £960 for Xenons, or justify the frankly ridiculous price of £1,740 for leather or the glass sunroof, but am still pretty pleased with the spec.
My current RNS-510 will find a new home in the Rocco, and the RCD-510 it comes with will be transferred to the new Polo.
Been told we are currently looking at between 12-14 weeks build for both, so looking at a late April or early May delivery. I will be massively sorry to see the Golf go, as in 30 years of driving I can safey say its been on of the best cars I've ever owned and faultlessly reliable (which we hope the 2 new ones will be as well). I'll stay around here after May if that's ok with you guys (as it's basically a Golf in a party dress anyway), and I do love this forum.
Thanks for reading
