Kangaroo when moving from idle?
« on: January 20, 2011, 08:09:45 pm »
Hey folks, last couple of days, what can only be described as the following;

When pressing the accelerator pedal to move away the car jumps a bit before moving, basically, like bad clutch control, yesterday I looked like a t**t pulling off of a junction because of it, the car is fine when driving, im sure it only does it from cold.

I have noticed worse mpg of late, but I put that down to having the heated seats on all the time.

It's not terrible, but it needs fixing really.

I know mechtronics is a possible issue as the car is DSG, but can't help but think it could be something else? The spark plugs have been changed in August.

If you have VCDS or access to it then this tutorial may help :happy2:

Do that and see if it eases. If it comes back then it's a good indication your Mech is FUBAR :sad1:

I have access at least so will try and get the VCDS thing done at the weekend.

As for warranty, no not on a 2005 car, however I WILL make sure I do have some sort of cover beforehand! :surprised:

Exactly the same symptoms as our ED30 , it required new mechatronics unit , Invoice was £980 covered by warranty

Been absolutely fine ever since Thursday... I will try that reset of DSG settings soon as well.

Agree with beddie, my MY09 displayed similar symptoms ie "jerking" in reverse and the occassional "false neutral". Dealer claimed to have no knowledge of the prob, but I googled "false neutral" and I soon realised that it was a widespread problem.  End result was the dealer replacing mechatronic under warranty.  It transformed the car.

i would put the car on a hill wack it in reverse and see if it reverses up smoothly, if not get it in the garage.
