S3 brakes on Ebay
« on: January 23, 2011, 04:18:27 pm »
I have just found a set off S3 brakes on ebay  item number 150553017960  I think they look ok but have never purchased secondhand brakes  it reads they have covered 21k miles  , I want to get  them professionally refurbished and painted red.

Should i factor in the cost off new pads and disks and a refurbishment off the calipers ,plus fitting as well.

Hi,

Firstly what car do you have? im driving a mapped Ed30 and have these calipers on the front, I wouldnt bother with the rears, even during ring trips and track work its very rare that the brake ballance feels wrong, or that the arse end steps out.

If you bought the S3 calipers I wouldnt bother refurbing them red, if you did its a simple enough job to pain the fronts, as you can split the calipers. The rears are a lot harder, hence why I wouldnt bother buying/fitting/refurbing them.

I doubt you would need new discs, they range from £75 is each upwards, id fit new and better pads say ds2500's there about £160 a set.

Fitting will vary, you will need new stretch bolts to mount them and go with some braided hoses since you are having brake work done anyway and you dont know the history of the old ones.

Oh and change the S3 caliper clips to the "R" type ones (see my for sale ad lol) and sell the S3 clips on the audi forums for a bit of profit..?

Hi they are for a ED30 DSG june 08 ,

I want a Red set of calipers to match the car its red, The car has done 13500 miles and is going to be 3 yr old in june .I would like the S3 brakes to look like standard ,I am happy to pay the right mony and want them to be ready for the end off March ,I have a set off Fresh Pescaras and new Michelin Pilot Sport 3s to go on at the same time also wanting to get the car detailed before my son returns form Holiday .

I thought it better to fit S3 brakes all round just so they are all the same
