Need help, what parts do i need for Xenon headlight retrofit??
« on: January 22, 2011, 05:03:36 pm »
I have at '05 GTI, and have just bought the R32 headlights from a salvage yard.

What are all the parts I need to retrofit these to my GTI?

Do Xenon lights need two bulbs or does it just use one bulb and shutter to either main or dipped?

From reading the forum I reckon I need bulbs(not sure how many?), igniters, ballasts (Not sure what either of these do and where's best place to get these?), autolevel sensor.

Any help would be great!!!

P.S If anyone had a link to a DIY retrofit that would be great. Thanks!

You need the parts mentioned and some adaptorcables from for example www.kufatec.de
It's a major project you have started as frontlightwashers also are needed for it to be fully legal (unless you car has winterpack, thereby having it in advance)
the autolevel can be bought from kufatec as a kit also, not cheap though

Over the top mod list ;o)

Thanks, yeah seems to be a lot of work involved although not in any rush. Dont mind about headlight washers, although the car wouldn't be strictly legal as long as it passes MOT i wouldnt mind!

Headlamp washers are not a failure if not installed here in england. :happy2:
