Do you have pics ?, has it still got the clips on the back ?, or is it just the glass

My old GTI did the same last winter. I had some ''no more nails'' sticky pads in the garage & used those to stick it back on,worked a treat & never came off again.  :happy2:

by doing this....will it not effect the heated mirror? does the glass not have to be seated directly against the backing?

The heated glass works from the wiring. There are two wires which connect to the mirror. You will need to reconnect these. There are clips for the mirror to clip back in.

Somewhere there's a guide to removing the indicator light (search for "inpro") and the guide has a bit on how to remove the glass. Should help you in replacing the mirror.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.
