Owners of Black Gti's - how do you keep water marks to a mimimum??

This is the first black car I have had and I knew they are the worst to get clean.

After washing i try and dry the car with a shammy, but then when i stand back to admire i am always disappointed as the car still seems to be drying streaky.

any top tips black men (so to speak)?

Use a drying towel rather than a chammy leather.

I use this one and tend to dry in vertical strokes starting on the top of the car.

^^^+1  As mentioned a drying towel is just the tool for the job.

cheers chaps will get a proper towel then.

has anyone used the turtle wax "black box"? Looks quite good for detailing as includes pre cleaner and wax etc with couple of cloths

What is your car protected with?

As above, dump the chamois in the bin and get a proper drying towel. The two main types are microfibre and waffleweave. Both have advantages/disadvantages.

After washing, how do you rinse? Ideally you need to sheet the water. This basically means an open ended hose. Secondly, you need to dry quickly. You can use a quick detailer after drying to buff the car. Quite a few people use meguairs last touch. Also, in warmer weather, it can be beneficial to rinse and dry one panel at a time (starting with the roof).

Another little tip is to lightly mist the car with a quick detailer before using the drying towel. Should aid drying and get rid of those aweful water spots.

Keano do you use the detailer while the car is still soaking wet or let it dry so it's just damp?

mmmm not sure how to answer, ie i have polished it with the  turtle wax carnuba wax. so microfibre benefits over waffle are? thanks

Carnauba wax is a wax, not a polish!

There are better waxes, and there are sealants. Top up the wax when you see the beading stops being so tight or once monthly. Helps protect the surface.

As for towels, it might be better to do a little research: type waffleweave or plush into google. There are a good few links to read through and absorb.

On mine i use a ''blade'', windows only !!!! & a good quality synthetic shammy on the paint,works for me.

I wouldn't bother with a blade even if it's on a window. A proper glass cloth will make it flawless.

I used to sell these and they were very popular, halfords were selling them for a heavy £25 but the main dist hiked the price up, guy on ebay sells them at a not to bad price.
Check out their drying towel under the 'ICE' brand not a fan of that line but the drying towel is a huge waffle weave towel and is very good.
CG miracle dryer is another good towel very soft, poss GB on them if I can get enough people.
