faulty cam belt tensioner's are common on the tfsi engine, especially from cold. The noise could be the cam belt slapping about whilst cold. I had mine changed under warranty, there is quite a lot of info on here if you do a search. Its worth asking if it has been replaced, its a costly job to have done as the scope of work is the same as having a belt changed. Obviously if ignored a broken belt will cost a lot more.
If its not the tensioner sticking, and the car oil level is correct (and the right grade) then relax, the TFSI does sound like a diesel on tick over
