And I just finished uploading the first video from the latest Hungaroring trip.

Here it is:

And a few words about it:
- first of all you will notice (in this film an all the others from this trip) that I am having problems with my shirt. Because of the shirt's sleeves I am having problems lifting my arm. This is constraining my arms movement and it is driving me mad. So, on all the films, you might see me lifting the arms for no apparent reason, lifting my shirt, etc.
- the cars that you may see in this video are (because you might not be able so see them properly because of the video quality):
* my friend with his white Skoda vRS Stage 3
* some really fast white Evos
* the white STI (GC) that managed a 2.03 best lap (WTCC's fastest lap was 1.56)
* a yellow Clio 197 Cup
* Alfa Romeo GTV 3.2
* a black Subaru Impreza WRX STI (GR)
* a Golf 1 Diesel that was really fast... I spoke to the owner and it had 1000kg (the doors only had the outer metal sheet, all the windows where plexi, etc) and 4 motion. I could not find out the bhp because he didn't speak English and I don't know Hungarian  :smiley:
* Alfa 147 GTA. A great, great looking car. One of my favorite hothatches.
- and one more thing regarding the lines: I learned to consistently be fast through bends 13 (sometimes I go very wide to overtake cars here because I am not sure if they see me or not) and 14, but I am overconfident in my powers and I began making mistakes on bends 11 and 8. All the other lines are pretty good in my opinion.

Comments (good or bad) are welcomed!

Cheers  :drinking:.

Your car must handle well, especially with it's lighweight engine.
You were visibly faster on corners than your mates and slower on straights.

I think of clothing and was talking to some friends about this issue as well.
I prefer cord throusers cos they 'stick' on the seat. We have to wear long
throusers on our 'Slalom' (autocross) events. Short throusers aren't allowed
for safety.
I personally don't like wearing gloves although I have tried them. I miss a
good steering feel.
What about air condition? Off?

Frenzy Thank you very much for your words!  :drinking:

Yes, you are right. I honestly think I am the slowest car on the straights.

I personally don't like wearing gloves although I have tried them. I miss a good steering feel.
Basically my gear is:
- gloves: a must because I have sweaty hands and I can not drive more than one lap without gloves
- racing shoes: because I have a better pedal feel
- knee pads: because I frequently hit the center column and steering column with my knees
- helmet: because I look better with it  :P. Just kidding... for safety, of course...

What about air condition? Off?
Yes, air condition is off. I can not afford to lose any bhp when using this.
Instead I open the windows a little bit and put the cold air ventilation (without AC) to its maximum and facing the drive. This was it is close to acceptable on very warm days.

Sorry Jake, Fuscobal was taking the picture.

But, you will find a picture of him on another Hring trip:

He is the guy to the right.

And here is the video with my best lap for this visit (2:23.71)

Just like above a few words about it:
- as I said above you will again notice that I am having problems with my shirt (the reason is stated above).
- the cars that you may see in action in this video are (you might not be able so see them properly because of the video quality):
* Evo X
* BMW 745i (he was all over the place)
* S2000
* the white STI (GC) that managed a 2.03 best lap (WTCC's fastest lap was 1.56)
* my friend with his white Skoda vRS Stage 3
* my friend with his white Civic Type R: I waited for him when the session began because we both wanted to see how are cars compared. His best lap was ~2.24 the last time and since than we had a brake upgrade, 20bhp more and semislicks. After about 3/4 of a lap I realized that he was faster than me so I signaled left and let him pass. After that I tried to stay close to him but he was about 1.5 seconds faster than me. His best lap was 2:22.2. I overtook him at one point because we lost his brakes. Believe it or not, he managed to use a brand new OEM pad in 100 km. During 4 sessions (to be correct more like 3, maybe 3 and a half) we went through 2 sets of front pad (one brand new, and one with 7-8mm pad remaining). He used them all till he got to the bare metal.
* a honda NSX (compresor, bbk, slicks, etc) a really nice car that overtook me in the same time with the Civic.
* the Golf 1 Diesel again
* a very nice subaru wrx sti
* a acura NSX (without the compresor, without the bbk, but with slicks); also a very nice car
* another WRX STI (GC)
* my friend (fuscobal) in his Stage 3 GTI on a cool down lap (because of his overheating problem).

P.S. Sorry for the sound but I have the windows opened and the air ventilation to the max.

Enjoy  :drinking:

I will bore you with yet another Hungaroring film.
This time it is made by one of my friends. To be more specific it is made by Edi, the guy with the white Civic Type R (FN2). He has ~220 bhp, a LSD, Kumho v70a and a brake upgrade.
This is the exact same session as the film above (where I am waiting for my friend and than try to see which is faster)

And like the usual, a few words about this film:
- this is a better quality video so you are able to better see the beautiful cars that participated at this track day
- you will see some great driving (from my friends part)
and regarding my car:
- this was a very sad film to watch for me... I realized that I am quite slow  :surprised:. You can hear on the video that my friend has to release the gas pedal not to run into me.  It is again very clear that I need more power  :chicken:.
- you can clearly see the difference in power when he is overtaking me. At that point I am full throttle.
- ooohhh and one more thing, if you look closely you might just be able to see some body roll  :grin:

Enjoy!

P.S. The comments are in Romanian but you will understand the names of the cars involved.  :drinking:

 :happy2:

No question the Type R is faster than a 1.4 TSI. And it sounds great.
Guess it it is also way more lightweight than your Golf.

But in the beginning he had some difficulties to choose the right line
in the corners.

 :wink:

Yes, the bruce, you are right, as usual  :happy2:
The civic has about the same weight as mine but he took the rear seats out so we should have been lighter (not by much, thought).

Hi everyone.

I think most of you thought I am done with the movies... Well, think again  :evilgrin:
This is, I think, the last movie with this session (I have about 3 or 4 others but of little interest and I won't be uploading them on youtube):

This film contains:
- a full session including the warm up lap and the cool down lap
- the full extent of my shirt problems  :grin:
- the "excellent" lateral support provided by my sport stock seats (same model as GTI USA)  :ashamed:
- a WRX STI that gave me lots of problems when overtaking. I think that if someone is catching me on the track he is surely faster than me so I let him pass. Not all of us think the same way. And by adding the fact that I am a little bit underpowered overtaking is a big problem for me. I can only overtake on the bends, the straights are out of the question. To make matters even worse this STI had a software remap and a new exhaust so we just disappears on the straights. When I overtook this STI he almost ran into me :fighting:....
- fuscobal overtaking me but than he has the cooling issues and has to slow down.

Enjoy!

Any comments are welcome.

It clearly shows how bad a driver he is, he's even got 4wd and his lines stinks, you could overtake him on the outside  :rolleye:

Yup... I tried at one point (before the long straight in front of the pits).
And I remember saying "bad driver, he's got a WRX STI and I am overtaking on the outside line". Of course, he disappears from sight on the following straight  :innocent:

Oh... and I forgot to say... sorry for the sound.
I know it is really bad but I have the windows opened, the air at maximum ventilation and the camera's microphone is not the best either.  :drinking:

Nice movie Rex. I'm showing up on your far back from 2'20'' and I'm overtaking at 3'55''. From the movie I tend to believe we carry similar speeds in corners but I'm closing up on the straights and during braking ! In the movie my weight was about 1570Kg and yours should have been about 250kg lower wich completely anihilates my extra power (we have the same tires and suspension +FSB, I have a thicker RSB and a LSD)
