No, my friend... VWR does not make engine mounts for the 1.4 TSI/TFSI engine.
I wanted to buy all 3 mounts from THS but because they did not inspire faith and they seemed not to know what they are doing, I gave up the thought and went for the VWR lower engine mount  :happy2:. And I will keep the stock engine and gearbox upper mounts.
A little bit complicated so I understand why it is hard to understand  :innocent:.

....I'm surprised to hear that about THS. Isn't their intercooler reckoned to be a well made piece of kit?

On the question of mixing an aftermarket lower engine mount with OEM upper mounts, I thought it was advised to match all three in the longer term.

I might just match them on the longer run.
But as you did RR, I will keep only the lower one at the moment. I do not want to waist 200 GBP by choosing the wrong mounts.

Hi everyone!

Every weekend I like to work on the car either on mods or just maintenance work.
This weekend I got to fit the TTRS Brake Vents:

And a week before I got the roll bar (Wiechers-Sport is the manufacturer) mounted:

Unfortunately the work is not at the standards I am looking for, so I will have to redo some of it.
I will post some more photos with the roll bar once I am finished with it.

Thanks for watching!

I didn't get the chance to take the car on the track so I have no idea about the stiffness.

I will see if the bakes fade with this setup and if they do I will remove the dust shields and improve the brake venting (similar to NeilM).
This is still my daily drive so I do not want to be to extreme .

Last weekend I also got to work on the car to fix some of the known estetic issues.

First of all I had to take the roll bar out to prevent rust from forming around the wholes drilled for the rollbar and for the seatbelts:

Then I had to paint some parts of the roll bar because by taking it off and then putting it back on this happened:

Then, inevitably, the mechanics that worked on the car left they mark on the ceiling (sorry for the out of focus photo):

And here a photo with the ceiling cleaned and the roll bar painted:

Then, when first mounting the Recaro seats I noticed that the interior carpet (not sure this is the right name) was cut for the stock seats (seat rails) and mounting the Recaro seats left some body parts not covered by the interior carpet:

So I had to make it look ok... I bought some carpet and not everything is fine:

And the last but not the least thing I did was to mount the Schroth Clubman II asm:

As you can see, the back mounting is different to Steve's or Neil's car. Schroth say that this is the correct mounting if the distance from the seats to the mounting point is more than 50cm.
I will still keep the oem seatbelts for daily drive and the Schroth ones for track days.

Comments are welcomed as always.
Thanks for watching and all the best!

Yes the devil's in the details. Still not done though... I still have to cover the place where the back seat was and the wholes made for the roll bar.
But working on these is a pleasure so no worries.

I have no idea Stefan. I could not weigh it when I mounted it.
And to be honest it doesn't really matter. I just hope it will do it's job if it ever comes to it.

I hope you never need it for its main purpose Vlad, but it will no doubt do a great job of stiffening the chassis up as a handling enhancement  :happy2:

How much does the rollcage weight?

....Most of the manufacturers state weights on their web sites. It will at least give you a clue about weight according to type of rollcage. The problem with fitting a rollcage to a road car with a nice interior (like yours!) is that it has to cut into it and would need lots of customising but I'm sure that doesn't put you off!

I changed the spark plugs to NGK Iridium. Thanks Hurdy for the codes!

I hope to leave the missfire errors behind.
Here are the old ones:

They look ok to me. But I am no expert. If you guys think otherwise please share  :drinking:.
