Yup... too bad that Ulrich Emmerich (as I remember he is a friend of yours) has no photos of me, this year  :sad1:!

The video with the fastest lap of the trip (BTG 8:56).

As you can see, it was not an ideal lap regarding the lines or the traffic.
I was a little bit held up by the BMW in the beginning and by the Porsche in the end. Since the Porsche driver had some interesting lines, I did not push as hard when he was in front because I was scared he would do something stupid.
This was also my last lap of the trip so I also was a little bit on the safe side (didn't want to screw it in the end).
Considering what I said above, why this was the best lap of the trip is a mystery to me!

Comments are, as always, welcomed!  :drinking:

Great video Rex. A mate of mine has just got back from a trip to the Ring. Although the car didn't due to engine failure. I love seeing people like him in that Porsche show how to do it by a lesser car.

Top stuff and I'm sure you had fun  :happy2:

Thanks Matto! Yes, I had a lot of fun.
Did your friend have a grey Seat?

Thanks Matt! Yup, most guys think I am nuts to do so much with a car equipped with a 1.4 engine. And they are probably right... I could use some more power but frankly, I am having lots of fun right now, so not worth the investment...

Thanks for all your comments!  :drinking:

Rex, my mate was in a black Supra with a private plate. Went with someone with a tuned Peugeot 205.

Am not so sure I have skills, it might be the fact that I know the car very well and I learned the track pretty well...

And another video from the last Nurburgring trip...

This is filmed from by friends car (you have the car specs in the video's details). We have similar cars and drive similar lines so it was not hard to film each other  .
This is a warmup lap and we didn't have the best lines because we were afraid to push with cold semislicks. We prefer to be safe than sorry.

There will be some more videos (at least another one) and hopefully some better photos.
Hope you guys will not be bored with so many videos!

All the best!  :driver:

Probably the best lap of the 2013 Nurburgring trip:

The time for BTG is 8:57.72 so it is almost 2 seconds slower than my fastest lap. But, as you can see, I think the traffic made me lose much more than that...

A few thoughts:

1. The Passat you will see throughout the video is a R36. I tried to find the car/owner after the lap to see what mods he had but I only saw the car on the road or on the track.
As you can see, he is much faster than me on the straights but I seem to catch up in the bends.

2. Except this lap, I have never overtaken on the right side, on my 77 (I think) laps of the North Loop. This lap, I overtake 2 cars on the right side.  :ashamed:
The Porsche driver in the beginning was sleeping on the left side of the road and I think I had no chance but to follow the Passat.
The Passat braked, signed left and than sat on the left side of the road so, again, I think I had no chance but to overtake on the right side.
I, honestly, wouldn't overtake on the right side in order to have better times, I always wait for the car to let me pass but these cars let me pass on the wrong side  :ashamed:

3. I honestly don't understand why the Porsche drivers were so, so slow and why they would remain on the racing line when they saw cars approaching...

Any comments (good or bad) are welcomed!

Because lately I was concentrated on "performance" mods, I decided I was time to do something about the "styling".
I needed a CD changer to make changing the audio CD's easier and also a CD player that can read SD cards. Because of this and because I wanted an OEM look, I went for the RCD 510 unit:

Prior to buying the unit I read some reviews and most people said that the RCD 510 si much, much better than the RCD 300 (with mp3) as far as the sound quality is concern. I thought it was placebo and I did not care about that but I found that they are right. Miles better than the RCD 300. Of course it don't come close to what I head in my friend fuscobal's car but it is good enough for me.

I had some problems with the installation because the RCD 300 has 2 plugs for the radio antenna and the RCD 510 (with DAB - not sure about the NON DAB unit) only has a large plug.

So I bought the adapter above. Here is the code for those of you who are interested:

I had no issues with battery drainage because the car is MY 2008.

As I think I said, the goal is to make the car as I like it to be and as it should have been from the beginning  :innocent:. So, I am one step closer to that goal, but still much to do...
Thanks for watching!
