Christmas arrived earlier in Romania, and since the car behaved wonderfully throughout the year she got some presents...
First of all, I wanted to change the floor mats. From this:

To this:

Then, I bought some filters, and other small parts for maintenance from www.ahw-shop.de:

They have amassing prices on some items (all the items from this post were bought from there and all had discounts) and if you want to buy OEM stuff, I think this should be the first site you visit (unfortunately they don't have it translated in English but I think you will manage just right even without knowing German)

And she also got a Votex rear (roof) spoiler:

But, before the spoiler gets painted I intend to make a gurney flap for it. Hopefully it will reduce drag and maybe add some downforce.

All the best and Merry Christmas to everyone!

I was searching for some VAG related information and literally stumbled upon your topic, as interesting and informative as ever for any track addict :)
Created this account to say HI and wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, full of trackdays  :driver:
Does HH not exist anymore? I sometimes miss the NS discussions, especially in the (too long) inter-season break :)

Thank you very much guys!  :notworthy:
Again, Merry Christmas!!!

wipperman, thank you for your kind words and nice to see you over here also!
I bet you will find some interesting stuff over here for your mk6 GTI!
I have no idea what happened to the hothatches forum. There were some problems with the hosting server but a few weeks ago it just went dead. I will try to speak to the administrators to see if they/we can put that site back on track. Anyway, some of the hothatches crew is over here also (fuscobal, acidutzul, drsilviu, anorganix, gtsport, etc)...
Hopefully next year the budget will be sufficient enough for the Nurburgring trip (hope we can meet in 2014) but I also want to try something different like Serres. We'll see how it goes!
Merry Christmas and all the best!  :drinking:

fuscobal, I will try to join you but I will make no promises!
And Merry Christmas my friend!

Pikey Motorsports yes, I was very, very lucky! After seeing a lot of accidents lately (on youtube) I realize I was extremely lucky. And I hope I learned my lesson for nobody should be that aggressive with other cars around even if it is a trackday.

I can't see adding a flap would help much to be honest. There isn't any flow under the spoiler.

I might be wrong, but the whole car acts like a wing. So, a gurney flap should reduce drag and, maybe, add very little downforce.
I've seen a lot of cars (like Nascar cars) that have some sort for a gurney flap on the truck, and there isn't any flow under either.
If that is wrong please correct me.

I know very little about the flap but I'm just going on what my brain tells me

From what I read, that is only one gain of the gurney flap.
Here is an interesting and educational video:

The whole car acts like a wing only for race cars that have long and high diffusers underneath. Otherwise, you will have an area of high turbulence at the rear of the car. What you're using there will bring no noticeable downforce whatsoever. In order for that gurney to work you need to have a wing and airflow must go both above and under it. As you see in the pics posted by Richwig83 the gurney only brings downforce by keeping the flow underneath the wing attached at an aggresive angle of attack. If you have no flow underneath, it can't help (and by flow underneath I don't mean under the car but right under the gurney, like on a wing) !

Well, I am not expecting miracles, but I suspect it will have a small positive effect. Remember that a rear wing like yours is not an option for me because I will lose time because of the drag than gain because of the increased downforce. So if there are any benefits, thats great!
