Anybody running 19" alloys?
« on: January 29, 2011, 03:02:03 pm »
As title says those who running 19" like your feedback,  i think 19" alloys look great on mk5 gti fills those arches well!!!!!  but what negatives in having them???  what the ride quality like? those who lowered, do you get rubbing issues and what are tyre costs? alot more than 18s?  :pomppomp:

With my KW 3 coilovers and a set of 19" i found that the suspension get to do what it does bestas there's no uncontrolled suspension in the tyre itself, so my ride improved on the 19" with PS2 over 18" and Bridgestones 0050A. That's why i have 19" ready for the upcoming season.

Over the top mod list ;o)

I'm running 19s at the minute. They do fill the arches nicely on the standard suspension. Actually changing to 18s in thenext couple of days as I fancied a change of wheel but couldn't  afford 19s. My old 19s will be up for sale soon if you're interested.

I use to change wheels almost every week (in the summer time).

17" - 18" - 19"

My opinion is: 19" look nicest - no doubt. But 17" and 18" feel better.

One reason: my 19" (Monza style/Hufs) are really heavy.  So they feel slow
when turning and accelerating. They also feel kind of 'clunky' on bad roads.
No wonder: one wheel is about 25 kg incl. tyre.

Lightweight 19" like OZ Ultraleggera or Allegerita should feel much better.
But if you want better steering precision you should choose a stiffer tyre.
