Clay Bars
« on: February 23, 2009, 02:17:16 pm »
I came across a Meguiars Clay Kit I bought about a year ago, a few points:

1) How sad and bored must I have been on a cold February weekend, please God get some motor sport on TV and book a track day.

2) This stuff is f***ing brilliant, anyone who didn't walk away calling me a weirdo, I got to feel the bodywork, its almost sexual. Even my 18yr old daughter said it feels like nicely shaved legs (not mine).

3) Dont drop the f***ing clay bar.

Got it for a week. The V8 sounds lovely. :)

I havnt clayed my car for about 4 months, how often is it recomended?

I know people dont rate the S5 compared to the S4 but they look the shizzzzle.

im not a fan of them, i think its in need of a BIG drop, bigger wheels and some BIG as spacers, the car looks like its sat like my GFs clio  :surprised:

I cleaned the mrs's EOS yesterday and although very clean and shiny it is litterally covered in something, feels like running your hand over old sandpaper that still got some grit amoungst the smooth worn areas

after reading up looks like i need to get me some clay and have a go at this, is there a better type of clay than another or does it all pretty much do the same thing?

and does the car have to be wet? worried i might drag nasties along the paint

Very Cherry: There is aggressive clay down to mild clay and make sure you use lube.

If your just doing this as a one off VC then megs do a kit in Halfrauds which is ok.
It is very important that you use lube.  :chicken: or you will marr your paintwork the megs kit comes with some.  :happy2: use liberally make sure you warm up the clay in warm water or give it a good needing. And keep folding it while using. infact i have posted a thread in this section called the detailers detail this will give you a good idea.
