Splitter options?
« on: January 31, 2011, 08:51:22 am »
Hey guys n gals,
I've got a 2005 GTI and am looking at changing the front splitter.
I'm after something deep and aggressive looking
I just wondered what options are out there and where best
to get them from?

Any help and pics appreciated :happy2:

cheers,
Damo

We roll with the OSIR front splitter.  :signLOL: I like it because it's nit very common and looks much better than all the others IMO. The only other one I would and did consider was the Votex.  :happy2:

.
Here's my review of the OSIR front splitter:   http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,13651.0.html

Due to the Mk5 GTI's frontal overhang, any lowering will increase the risks of scraping etc a deeper front splitter. I have to keep out of most multi-storey carparks and need to mend my splitter about once a year. But I'm not fussed about that.

My second choice would be a VWR splitter like gillm's.

i would love to put a deep splitter on mine but because its lowered and a steep hill to climb to work i would have had more splitters on my car than Joe did on his gti :signLOL:..so i went for the lcr one

the 'vwr' one is actually rieger, but they seem to like to put there own branding on things,

And this is the cheapest place and i can 100% recommend these guys.

http://www.orange-tuning.de/shop/rieger-golf-gtgti-front-spoiler-p-8765.html

if you email him first he will probably do a discount, also have a look as there are other splitters available from that site.

....I'm not convinced you're right, Joe. This has been discussed before and VWR challenged on the subject. My understanding is that VWR's splitter is thicker and considerably stronger than the Riegers you have broken. They certainly look the same or extremely similar, but.

Thanks Red. It's the v2 I think, definitely the plastic version. As is the centre section (which I will get painted gloss black soon). It's as low as I dare go, I have 19s on ATM. Same problems as you, humps very slow if I can't avoid them and coming off my drive at an angle where I use mine and my neighbours drop down pavement
