Sub 8 in a stock cup with brakes and tyres? The r26r fwd record would be a 7:50 btw! With 888s and pro driver. And you know someone who can match that in 172? Lol

Sub 8 B-G, not full lap. I should also have added it wasn't exactly carrying OEM weight... but yes, it was done by a pro driver to prove a point.

7:50 would be the fwd record set by the r26r, so your mate has beaten that record in a 8 year old pretty much stock car. Think it took renaultsport a few days to get that time too, the 172 cup is a great car, best clio IMO but fastest fwd around the ring? Well worth the 3 grand and 500 for 888s

Gah, I knew I shouldn't have said it!!

How have I said he beat the record?

The R26.R's full lap time is 8:16, knock off 30 seconds for the DH straight and it's 7:46ish. He's done a sub-8 B-G, so if it was a 7:59, he's still be 13 seconds slower than the R26.R.

There's plenty of people doing sub-8s in what some people consider to be mediocre cars.

ok, never realised you meant 1 sec off 8 min, never known anyone do that sort of time in a "mediocre" car ( i did say it was the best clio), you said you were in the car ( another 70 kilo) so what was the time? im not saying this never happened mate, just as a bit of a renaultsport man i have never heard of anyone doing such a crazy time and am very interested :happy2:

Oh, I wasn't in with him, it was pretty much him and a bucket! I've lapped with him though and he drives at number 11.

He's a friend of a friend, races in Time Attack and knows the Ring well, it was done as a bit of a bet to see if it could be done. There's a video of it, I'll ask if I can have a copy and if I'm allowed to sling it up. It was pretty much 'just' under 8.

I love clutter, I love the fact people think nothing of them and they're mediocre and French rubbish - they can shat on a lot of stuff!!!

Turbo would ruin it, there's something really satisfying seeing a needle head round towards the 8 on the dial.

Rich, tell him to get booked onto the 25th with us lot.
