Ok then.

Lets say for instance you refuse to buy a renault.  Irrelevant of how good it is.  which lets be fair some people will be reluctant to buy a renault.  (Im almost in that frameof mind, not a fan of french cars)

So no
clio 197/cu8p
Clio 200/cup

what would you by instead then??

the main options(new ish cars not old ones) i can think of

Mini Cooper S
Mini Cooper S JCW
MINI Cooper S GP
Seat ibiza cupra (1.8T or 1.4TSI)
Skoda fabia vRS 1.4TSI
Vauxhall Corsa VXR
Ford Fiesta ST150
Fiat 500 abarth
Citroen DS3 THP150

Ive had the mini cooper S years ago, the missus has had the cooper S clubman (which i loved), and im a huge fan.  Havent driven but have been in the Corsa VXR and it was good.  Driven the Fiesta ST.  Gutless but handled great.  Not tried the DS3 or fiat 500

Had both the cooper s and works version and the works was so much better so maybe the GP and then the 500 abarth oh and I hated French cars and now have a 182 and a 106 rallye and I just can't knock em any more they handle like go carts.  Still fancy a go in the Ibiza

Mods yes but way too many to stick in this little box

Mini gp, although I can't see the point in the well built small hatches, that size car is not for 20 k a year on m1! It's for fun, the Clio is good because it's made out of paper!  :signLOL:
BMW 335d msport touring lci. Auto, estate and diesel! Oh no

Is a Swift in the same class?

  • Hmm, lot of extra money for a Mini but then if you sell it at a premium too it doesn't really matter. I like the fact you can spec diffs and lots of nice JCW bits are warranty-friendly. I'd probably look at the GP as it has the best of what I look for.
  • Polo/Ibiza/Fabia are all the same car, but the pick of them is the SEAT for me.
  • Corsa has an appalling driving positon, but is quick.
  • Abarths are hilarious fun, not sure it's for me though
  • Fiesta and DS3 I wouldn't even look at.

Still take the Clio though, the interior isn't actually that bad either. Spec is high for its class, really miss heated seats though.
Sideways yo!
