New Forum Member & Edition 30 owner - pictures inside!!
« on: February 05, 2011, 05:02:20 pm »
Hello to all forum members - I have been looking to buy a GTI Edition 30 for the last 3 or 4 yrs. I finally got the one I wanted over Christmas....immaculate condition and exact colour/ spec I wanted...I now go around with a permanent smile on my face!! Absolutely love it!!
Personally I think the black honeycomb grille with red line, and the body-coloured bumpers/skirts etc make it look one of the meanest looking cars on the roads!!
Anyway, here are some pictures...enjoy

Hi & welcome.  What you actually ment to say was that you trated yourself to an ED30 for christmas?  Looks very well, DSG is a must.  Can't beat the "just mash your foot to the floor" effect!!

Any plans for mods? I noticed a blufin handset c/w remap in the for sale section, a stage 1 remap will turn that smile to an insane laugh for sure....... untill you get caught speeding and end up in court (obviously that didnt happen to me)... (honest)

Thanks Steveyd,

yeah lol i treated myself to it over Christmas....spent my whole life savings and more lol but its worth it!!
-yeah i have been loving the acceleration esp when you drop it down two gears on the paddle-shift and then put your foot down...the sound is amazing!!

I am not sure about remaps...i have heard people say that you shouldnt do them as the car components/engine were not designed for the forces that are generated from re-mapping....what you reakon? maybe i could do a stage 1...

i want to get xenons, the sat-nav unit, reversing camera  -  will see though.

Funny you mention it....i have been zipping around for a few weeks no probs....but got pulled over by police with blue lights on thurs night in Birmingham for doing 37 in a 30. got away with a "be more careful"....and i went on my way. i was glad he didnt spot me the day before doing $$!£"£$ on a dual carriageway!!!!
he also said my sat-nav was too high on the windscreen....to be honest i think he was either bored, or wanted to have a closer look at the car! lol

Looks great, got mine 2 days before christmas. All you need now is another Edition 30 tailgate badge to put under the front grill GTI badge. Bloke on ebay does genuine ones for around £8.00  :happy2:

Hello and welcome.
You have a really nice car. Excellent color.
About remaping your car, I think there isn't a thing to worry if you are going to the right people. If this was my car I would definitely do a REVO remap and get the engine to 300+ bhp. Superchips is also good (some say it's better, some say it's worst). It's up to you to decide which way to go (if any of the above).

@ Gene Bunt - yeah i saw someone elses picture where they had the ed30 chrome badge under the gti badge on the front grille. looks really good. i will get one off ebay.

@ Rex - yeah i was looking the other day at stage 1 from Awesopme GTi, but do you think superchips and REVO are good too? if i was going to get it up to 300bhp, how would i know who to go with?

Hi and welcome.

Those pics make the car look mint. Hope you enjoy the car!  :driver:

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

All i did with the front ED 30 badge was to use the sticky backing it came with.Just gave the grill a good wash with washing up liquid (fairy)  to remove any trace of wax etc & stuck it on. Stays on fine & it's been washed a load of times.  :happy2:

Welcome fella!  :drinking:

Slightly edited your post regarding the speed you may have been doing recently on a DC. You never know who's looking!
