I eventually have a stage 2 remap that works- thanks PDT!!!
« on: February 05, 2011, 05:28:57 pm »
hello folks,
I was all set to go shark performance after the recent episodes I have had with Revo.
My bluefin stage 2+ was only making 313bhp, so went to revo stage 2+, this produced 349bhp, but kept getting the engine light coming on with mixture rich on idle, lambda value -6.6 and 0.8. I went back to stock and got a refund from them.
I was booked in next weekat shark, but couldnt get the time off work, and Dave said he had one of his own stage 2 files that I could try on my car. I tried a version last week that felt awful, but he played about with the settings, and asked me if I wanted to try his revised version today.
So spent some time on the dyno today doing one of his custom remaps for me.
Eventually he was happy with the settings.
The map seems to way better than the superchips stage 2+map, there isnt the torque drop off aswell, and  feels like it pulls from lower down the rev range, very smooth map. I would say it would be a hard choice between this and the Revo, and there is a big price difference aswell!
Only problem is that I seem to have a big fuel cut at around 3000rpm, so this must be causing my lower torque figures than the other companies produce. Looks like I might have to get a new oem HPFP, as I stripped mine down and reassembled it and evrything seemed tight and fine. or do I go down the autotech or apr route again.....
the first few runs were producing 310bhp and 300lbs/ft of torque, then the last few went up to 330bhp with the same torque figure somehow. I would have been happy with 310bhp on stage 2 anyway.
The lambda values with this map are 0.8 and 1.3, so seems very strange how it wasnt the revo software, but this map and the stock map they are running lean?
So looks like I'll have to decide on which HPFP to get, and a big thanks to Dave for sorting it out for me!

Something is up with that fuel pump, I might have an opportunity for you to trial a new oem pump thats coming in next week, if it does then I will give you a shout.

Torque figure will improve with that fuel pressure sorted, mine with the same map on made 337bhp and 330ft/lb when we dyno'd it before leaving.

That vectra made 151bhp / 252ftlb standard and 191bhp / 330ftlb mapped (incase you were interested)

If you're around my way next week damoegan, would be nice to see the difference between the p-torque and the pdt map on the local private land dragstrip  just to see how they compare to each other?Pm me if youre interested :laugh:From what I heard you work around where I live anyway :happy2:
I think I might buy a new OEM HPFP anyway, on;y £170 with my discount. unless you fancy a few quid for a swap before you sell the car dave  I got the fuel pump removal technique down to a fine at now :signLOL:
Good results on the vectra, would have stayed if it wasnt for the earache off the daughter about me putting time on the car before spending time with her :sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

New Fuel pump fitted from dealers £150! bargain :sad1:
Logs now show that theres no fuel cut anymore  :jumpmove: :jumpmove: :jumpmove: :jumpmove:
Will be interesting to see what sort of torque it can make now that that issue is sorted. It now makes sense how it feels the car pulls better low down the rev range as the specified boost is high low down the rev range, then tails off as the revs climb, the superchips stage 1 was requesting 2300mb from about 3500rpm all the way to the redline, whereas this is the opposite
Now when is this rolling road day going to be where some of the proceeds go to mk5golfgti going to happen :jumping: :jumping:

so was the REVO map at fault then as your fuel pump was dodgy?

New standard OEM fuel pump in now Damoegan.
The revo was causing a rich on idle fault which didnt happen on the superchips/pdt/stock maps on the same pump. the only problem that appeared lately, only with the pdt map was the fuel cut at 3000rpm, so who knows!
I'm not bothered now, got a car that runs well with a nice map
Thanks Dave, I'll pop in next time I'm through that way :happy2:

New pump on, made no difference to torque figures :signLOL:
Still good to drive though, and not bad bhp figure for a stage 2 car with an OEM pump :happy2: Revo DSG map coming in the near future :popcornsoda:

yup i'd say you'll get a few more ponies with the DSG unlocked.

certainly holding torque well even on the OEM pump with that map. Nice.  :happy2:

Did you use a rule for that power curve? (line!)

Does look good, wonder what Stage 1 on a Ed30 would hail?

I would have thought 300-310bhp
Youre best off asking Dave
