Thanks Pdt I was thinking of doing that but I know a turbo company who can strip it and clean it for 180 quid.
Once it's cleaned will it be fine?

AMD sent the turbo off to Turbo Technics who reported that it was dry, which I guess means that over a long period of time former owners have been turning the engine off as soon as they stop and not letting it cool first, or I was just unlucky.

Anyway, it is being done under the 3rd party warranty that turned out to be with RAC and they will be changing some oil pipes of some description too!

Happy days, I might actually get to drive my car at some point, I've owned it about two months but its been in and out of workshops for coming up to 4 weeks now!!

If it was dry it likely means that it has been starved of oil.  You may have an underlying problem of oil pressure within the car so I would have that checked ASAP.  I read an article recently citing such failures as being the first indicator of the problem and subsequently fitted turbo's would soon suffer a similar fate.

I would image AMD know this and thats why they are changing some other oil related bits and bobs but I will look into it, any ideas what causes pressure problems?

Thanks BTW.

I was just looking for the article.  It may have been in VW or Audi driver mag.
