Diamond cut wheel refurb in/near Southampton?
« on: February 06, 2011, 03:36:26 pm »
Anyone recommend anywhere in or near Southampton to have some alloys refurbed, need a diamond cut finish.

Generally, what is the cost per wheel?

Thanks.

Hi Mandy

I used these guys, near you I think, a month ago.

http://www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk/File/fareham-details.php

I can't remember whether they do diamond cut, but worth a call to find out.

I went for an anthracite all over, and I'm very happy with it, and their service. Drop your car off in the morning, collect at 5pm all done. I think my bill was £280ish, but Vat increase may have changed that a bit. They do all sorts of finishes, as you can see from their website. Most are on display and they'll put them up against your car to give you an idea.

Good luck choosing a finish, unless you stay standard, far too much choice.

Thanks for your suggestion Tony.  :happy2:

I've just had a look at their site, doesn't say anything about diamond cutting  :sad1:

I'll get in touch with them anyway just to double check...

Glad you're happy with your wheels.  :pomppomp:

Again, cant confirm about Diamond Cutting, but the wheel specialist in Fareham are very good. I also know a lot of people who have used them.

.
It's a pity that Wolver-hampton isn't a suburb of South-hampton as A1 in Wolverhampton really are A1 at diamond-cut refurbs etc. Ask George Michael Rim King Nathan Greeners - He has much experience of such things.

On the other hand, perhaps you wouldn't want Wolverhampton on your doorstep if you lived in Southampton. My front number plate mysteriously fell off up there.

Ive had some diamond cut work done to some monza's in th past. Unfortunatley, Peter cooper have their own wheel repairer and have done a very goo job in the past. Although im guessing you wanna steer clear from that place as possible.

So Monza's for the Eddy, or is the Mk4 Anni getting some mod's?....    do tell

^^^

Yeah, Adam (VW) mentioned before that it's his mate who does them at Peter Cooper, I'll have to ask him...

No, not Monzas I'm afraid... actually, not even for my car, lol.

Sold the mk4 over the weekend so not that either...

It's a set of.... Charlestons, one of which could do with a refurb. Was an impulse buy but they look good.

Alloy magic was recommended to me by one of the guys at Poole VW. The guy used to work there and said the work was top notch.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Thanks Stealth, Poole is not too far from me so will make a mental note of that... Did you use to live there?

Done a bit of research on Alloy Magic and sounds like they have a good reputation.  :happy2:
