Michelin Pilot Super Sport (235/35-19" 91Y) treadwear 300 Review

The PSS surely will be my next 19" road tyre when the Conti SC3 are worn.
I first had the PS2 on my GTI and I'd never buy the PS3. Like others on this
forum I'm more sports oriented and so I prefer stiffer kind of tyre providing
good steering feel (like PS2, PSS, SC 5P or P Zero).

I will deffinately be considering a set of these when the R1R's wear out . . . . . which should not be too long the way they scrub off LOL.
Its amazing the amount of difference a tyre can make to the way the car feels
The Mk5 platform cars can feel very numb through the steering but going for a better tyre can improve this no end.
How would you compare them to the R1R's from a steering feel point of view Jake??
The R1R's make things feel much more lively on turn in, however they have a very soft sidewall and on really tight corners you can feel them rolling and letting go.
Are the sidewalls stiffer on the PSS?

The PSS feels stiffer, might be down to them for my feeling running 40psi front warm, they are confident giving in the corners, the dual compound rubber gives a similar grip when cornering hard as the R1R has, but after the 16 of august i will be able to better comment as i then goes on track with the R1R's. I'm no expert but i didn't held back using the PSS even though they were a "roadtyre". So for the best of both worlds this is the one. :happy2:

A Golf just doesnt warrant tyres that we designed for 911 Turbos and 599 GTOs. I'm just about to replace my first full set of PS3s and whilst they've not out lasted the ContiSportContacts they replaced (Contis always seem to be hard and noisey), they are much much better tyres in every other respect.
A lot of forum waffle seems to suggest that the PSS is the replacement for the PS2 when in actual fact, the PS3 it the true successor. The PSS is a completely new, high-end tyre as the PS2 was too compromised trying to cater for GTIs and GTOs.
I'm not disputing that the PSS isn't a great tyre, all the reviews I've read suggest that they even better than the PS3, which means they must be good. For road driving though, the PS3 is more than adequate - wet grip it supposed to be massively improved over the PS2. Even Michelin state they are intended for sports car and high power saloons, so if they're good enough for an M3/M5 - it's good enough for me. For the track, I'd use something more focused and track specific i.e. the PS Cup.

I dont agree with this.
PSS tyres where designed to reduced understeer and do so brilliantly. Wet grip is massive, dry grip is massive. My TT had ps2's before the PSS and the PSS is superior in every way. PSS also costs basically the same as the ps2 from good retailers. PSS also last longer.
I read that the ps3 isnt the ps2 sucessor btw, infact iirc some pss articles mention that the pss is the ps2 sucessor and not the ps3.
On the road the pss is better than the r1r's I tried, on the track the r1r's are superior. I believe the r1r's also give better steering feel.
Poverty:
Just to add, of all the TTRS owners that have had PSS fitted, we have all said it has transformed the handling, the inherent understeer is gone, the car handles pretty much neutral now.
