Led number plate bulbs thread again....
« on: February 07, 2011, 08:17:43 am »

I know its been asked a thousand times but where is everybody ordering their error free led numberplate bulbs from.

I've searched through the previous threads and the purchase links have expired, has anybody recently ordered some which were error free ??

Many Thanks :happy2:

The place where I got mine is here,

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320509903502

But he has now not selling on e-bay now.

Have been buying can bus bulbs from here

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/mylitco

everything has turned up with no problem and has worked as promised e.g. no warning lights on dash. I’m sure others will be along with different sellers soon.

I've got a pair of LED number plate lights with the resistors and heat sinks on them that are meant to be of the error free variety but for some reason on my car every now and then they go out and chuck out a bulb failure warning.  I've reverted back to old fashioned bulbs but you'd be welcome to try these ones for the price of a bit of packaging and posting.  Drop me a PM if you're interested otherwise I think I'm gonna oik them in the bin.

Hi JJ,
That's a very kind offer, I suppose its worth a shot, can you send me your payment details and how much you want and I will get that straight over. Currently my numerplate bulb is glaring defective on the dash so anything will be a improvement.
Thank you

Guys my own personal opinion is that these LED bulbs are rubbish
i have tried 3 different types now and every one of them has blown or the LED'S have fallen off!!!
it is strange however that on BMW'S,MERCS and AUDI'S they have LED as standard and they all seem to last as long as the normal numberplate bulbs :stupid:
i also have LED bulbs in my puddle lights and they are fine but then remember they only stay on for a short period of time where as the numberplate bulbs stay on all the time the car is on!!!

I have ebay LED numberplate lamps (bulbs are planted in the garden!) and they have been fine.

I've had them ages so the seller is long gone but they were advertised as 'mercedes canbus safe'.

I agree fleabay is hit and miss though.

What length are the bulbs.  eBay has a variety of lengths, 36mm, 42, 44, 47 mm?

Easiest way to do it is swap your number plate bulb holders the complete fitting for the new mk6 type, part# 1K8 943 021 then buy some LED side light bulbs and your rocking.

Far better with less heat given off work a treat on mine.

Normally 36mm.

XTec are the most reliable ones i've used. Had mine in for a while now and work perfectly fine with no lights on the dash etc

These will not work on the mk5, the mk6 has a setting in the BCM so you can turn the error control off e.g fitting rear R LED lights, the part number above does not have any kind of canbus error deletion.
