New Member from Dorset.
« on: February 07, 2011, 10:35:54 am »
Hi,

I have just purchased my Mk5 GTI at the local VW dealer.  This is a big shock to the system for me as I normally only buy VWs when they are well beyond their best.  Here is my list of Dubs previously owned and the age of them when purchased...

Series 1 Mk1 Golf GTI 1600cc - 16 Years Old
Series 2 Mk1 Golf GTI 1800cc - 14 Years Old
Mk3 Golf VR6 - 8 Years Old and already a little rusty!
Mk2 Golf GTI 8v - 19 Years Old
Corrado 16V - 15 Years Old
Mk3 Golf VR6 - 9 Years Old

As you can see.  They were all old and high mileage.  Below is the new car that I am very pleased with...

Can anyone tell me about the wheels that I have fitted?  What type are they?

Regards.

Anthony

Welcome along. Not 100% sure on the alloys due to camera angle, but the may be either bhs CH's or replica's. More pics would help :happy2:

.......A Warm Welcome, Anthony  :drinking:

I'm based in West Dorset.

Difficult to tell from your pics but your wheels look like BBS of some sort. Are there no markings on them? Someone who knows more about alloys will doubtless be along to post soon.

Btw, if you feel it's not too far and are up to meeting a few of us in person so soon, we've got a meet 24th this month. Coming doesn't mean you are obliged to come every month and partners are also welcome. Pub food (quite good) or just sit with us and have a drink.

Hi,

Thanks for the message and the invite!  I won't be able to make the 24th.  I'm away with
work then.  Doh!

The wheels state 'VW Motorsport'.  If that helps?!...

Have you had your car remapped?  If you have can you recommend anywhere locally?  It could be something I'd be looking to do...

....Although I'm in far West of Dorset I happily drive the 90 miles (180 round trip) to JKM in Portsmouth. They offer Revo and Bluefin remaps and have a Dyno-Dynamics rolling-road. They're a small and very caring family business and importantly have major experience of the 2.0T FSI platform. Quite a few others here on this forum will also wholeheartedly recommend them.

There's lots of threads here discussing which remaps etc but Revo is the current favourite for the K03 GTI. APR are also good but have stopped/reduced their UK coverage.

Speak to Kate and feel free to mention my name 'Red Robin'.

Thanks a lot Red Robin.  I may well be taking a trip to Portsmouth sometime soon!   :driver:

Hi Alex, I work and grew up in Poole.  The car is currently up at Breeze being prep'd ready for collection tomorrow.  I can't wait!

I lived down in Parkstone for years and always took my car to APD at Holton Heath and still travel from London to them as they have done everything on my S3 so far.

They are VAG specialists and authorised REVO dealers and have done me proud so far!!

Yeah the car is from Breeze.  Just got to wait for it to get the Autoglym treatment then I can take delivery tomorrow.  Strangely my Mum mentioned about APD at Holton Heath...
