Bad News - A1 Wolverhampton robbed....
« on: February 11, 2011, 11:16:35 am »
.
Johnny_tro has told me that A1 were recently robbed by scumbags who broke through a brick wall and stole a large quantity of wheels. Nigel and family are obviously gutted and it will have cost them a lot. As Johnny points out, they're a small dedicated family business who work very hard.

Luckily for Johnny, the scumbags didn't take his newly finished black insert diamond-cut Monza's. Does this mean that they are no longer fashionable?

There's a few of us on the forum who know and use A1 and will feel especially gutted about this.

I was on duty that night and went over to see what was happening as we could not establish if it was them or the garage next door.
Did not want to post it up just incase.
Spoke briefly to Nigel when he did turn up, and from what we could see they had a van on cloned plates, broke in, shut the shutters then started on the wall, think the alarm triggering scared them off, was not aware that they had got any wheels though as the stolen van was full of them but was recovered by us.

G'morning Al,

I'm only able to report what Johnny_tro has told me. Doubtless you have more precise info. Glad to hear some wheels were recovered.

:surprised: Hope everyone at A1 wheels is okay. Good to hear the rims were recovered. Didn'g think there was much point in rims that needed refurbing!

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Price of scrap metal is very high at the moment though.......

I used to throw my wire off-cuts away but now I get the lad to bag them up.

Don't quote me but I think the scrap value of an alloy wheel is around £15.

There would be a few quids worth in a full van load.

They've been doing that in Shropshire too, plus several road signs have also been half hitched too....scumbags.

Glad to here the wheels we're recovered, always found all the team at A1 very helpful, so this is bad news.
Cheers,

Wayne
