Speaker options and how to tell which one you have
« on: February 10, 2011, 10:57:55 pm »
What factory options were there? I noticed while coding my rns510 there were a few different speaker setup options and since coding I feel I have lost a lot of bass so may have the wrong speaker package selected?

Will check it properly tomorrow but any clues of what to check would be helpfull

Standard (8 or 10 speakers), Soundpack (seperate amp under the pass seat) and certain ones have DynAudio, which is like the bose kit on an audi (again amped under the seat).

RNS 510 should have the 10 speaker pack as standard giving you seperate woofer mid and treb in each front door, and a woofer/mid and treb in the rear doors

Sound is reasonable out of them, but I still had to add a sub to get a more balanced sound ;)

Yeah! I played around with some of the sound options, that may have contributed to blowing the tweeter on the right hand side of the car!

That said, the standard speakers aren't great, i'll be changing mine. (Both the rear and front right hand side speakers are 'clicking/popping' as they are blown)

I know the rns 510 limits output due to crappy vw speakers. Do you need to code anything if you fit aftermarket speakers to the rns?

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Dont think you would need to change coding with aftermarket speakers unless you placed an amplifier like the dynaudio in the system speakers are speakers as far as the RNS is concerned.  It would be interestign to know what speakers people have managed to easily custom fit.

5Dr Black GTI, DSG, Leather, Xenons. Retrofitted - Cruise, RNS 510, MFSW, Armrest, Skoda BT, 6cd changer, Monza II's, VW speaker upgrade kit, Lux pack, High-line, new CAN gateway, Polar FIS info display, R32 tinted rear lights, RVC

To Come...NQSBBK, highline CCM.

I am having Focal Access 3 Ways fitted to the fronts, and a decent set of 2 ways for the rear on Friday (will find out the brand after im just relying on the car audio shop who's doing it!)

Whilst this is being done, the doors will also be sound-deadened.

Will report back how they sound!
