Welcome Logan.
To be honest apart from the normal checks when buying a car, the only thing that goes on the GTI a bit more than the norm is the air-con unit, which carries a hefty price for repair. Stuff like the Diverter valve often splits on them but it is an easy fix. You wont be getting Monza II wheels in good nick at that age either due to the polished face corrosion, which looks like little worms, but thats it really. Buy and enjoy.
