Hi all
I am looking to buy a mk 5 GTi , can anyone give me some tips on what to look for failures common parts etc ,my budget is about £8000 so iam looking at a 05 plate.

Welcome Logan.  :happy2: To be honest apart from the normal checks when buying a car, the only thing that goes on the GTI a bit more than the norm is the air-con unit, which carries a hefty price for repair. Stuff like the Diverter valve often splits on them but it is an easy fix. You wont be getting Monza II wheels in good nick at that age either due to the polished face corrosion, which looks like little worms, but thats it really. Buy and enjoy.  :happy2:

Other than that it's a cracking buy!

I just sold mine on an 05 plate for £8250 and my monza's were immaculate! No worming!

Just out of interest what goes wrong with the aircon ?? is there something to look out for?
