interior door handle removal
« on: February 11, 2011, 11:06:16 pm »
can anyone tell me how to remove the drivers door handle??  is it just a matter of pushing the rear of the grasp in and off, then pulling upwards on the handle same as a mk4 handle would come off

cheers guys

If you are talking about the interior chrome ones then I have swapped mine over before now,
If you take off the door card then undo a couple of screws on the back, then the whole unit comes off, there is a pin that causes the pull motion and it is on a spring. just push the pin through, and the handle comes off. (mine was quite scratched on a new set of door cards, so I swapped my original one in)

If that's not what you were after then I am sorry.

Ah right, that is even easier to do, on the drivers one, just grab hold of each end of the plastic cover and pull up, then the whole thing comes off and you can get to the clips to the switches, if you want to take off passenger ones then pull them towards you and then the handle part comes off to get to the switch.

thanks fellas ill hit the thnx button,  what confused me a bit is that on mk4`s you had to push the small part inwards on the finger grasp bit and then pull it up.  So on the mk5`s you just pull the handle up and off  :happy2:
