RNS 510 Latest VW Firmware and Maps

Does anyone here who goes to Red Robins end of the month meets have the latest VW Firmware and Map Update?
The top of my unit says.

HW 04
SW 2680

My unit hasn't had any updates but has had the VIM lock disabled,if i update it, will it put the lock back on ?
and is it worth doing? or is the version I'm on worth leaving as it is?

i dont want to put any beta or none VW firmware on it

I'm not 100% certain but pretty sure it will remove the VIM Lock.


You need to check the hidden menu to see if it is still running that firmware. Press and hold setup for 30 secs and you should get to the hidden menu if it's enabled.

nope.It just went to an FM / AM service Mode.

Whats more worrying is that when i turned it on it went straight to Radio and i didn't get the
VW boot up logo,which is telling the unit isn't shutting down properly 

but when i clicked on the Media button it did say "starting up"

im confused now ???

The Radio starts pretty much straight away.

If you put the firmware on that i linked above you will have the hidden menu enabled.

I'm more worried about the VIM lock going on 
My little ones like to watch Simpsons while we drive up north.

someone told me that if i don't get the VW logo on first switch on
then the unit isn't shutting down properly and is still running ?
