Another little tip is to lightly mist the car with a quick detailer before using the drying towel. Should aid drying and get rid of those aweful water spots.

If you can get a hold of Autosmart aqua rinse its good as a drying aid cuts down drying times and helps with water spots

Yup. Water marks are meant to the salts in the water that are left behind as the water dries out. Typically calcium is the main culprit so if you live in a hard water area, calcium levels are high so marks are more visible.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

^^^+1  As mentioned a drying towel is just the tool for the job.
