light scratches on black paintwork
« on: February 09, 2011, 01:20:47 pm »
Hi there,

Just wanted some advice on polishing. I have a black gti pirelli and when its clean i notice lots of very light white scratches. (so annoying!)

Whats the best way to get rid of them?

Thanks for any help!

Ive used Sonus sfx-2 on my black gti by hand and had good results its not perfect but a lot better,

http://www.washshop.net/ea/product.php/49/396/sonus_sfx_2_enhance_swirl_remover

And followed on with Poorboys black hole glaze which will help to fill the remaining marks reducing there appearance topped off with a wax to make it last, its not as good as getting an enhancement done or machine polishing yourself but safer and cheaper.

5Dr Black GTI, DSG, Leather, Xenons. Retrofitted - Cruise, RNS 510, MFSW, Armrest, Skoda BT, 6cd changer, Monza II's, VW speaker upgrade kit, Lux pack, High-line, new CAN gateway, Polar FIS info display, R32 tinted rear lights, RVC

To Come...NQSBBK, highline CCM.

Depends on how deep the scratches are. Do the fingernail test - if positive, you'll need a respray.

If it's just light swirl marks then you need to polish the car. Look at Autoglym Super Resin Polish - a good polish to use by hand and can be bought from Halfrauds.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.
